FSC to Host Webinar on Derisking Practices by Financial Industry

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Adult industry trade group the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) will host a special briefing next Wednesday on the impact of derisking practices across the financial services industry. Panelists will address the ways in which derisking impacts their ability to build and operate businesses, earn income and survive in a world increasingly dominated by digital transactions. This webinar is intended for adult industry members, Congressional staff, regulators, financial services professionals and other stakeholders. The webinar comes on the one year anniversary of the FSC’s report, “Financial Discrimination and the Adult Industry,” which detailed the extent of financial discrimination affecting adult related businesses and workers. More than 60 percent of adult workers have lost a bank account or financial tool due to their association with the industry, 40 percent in the past year alone.  Since the release of the report, FSC has met with over 40 Congressional offices, as well as regulators, compliance officers and anti-trafficking organizations. National and international outlets have covered the fight to stop financial discrimination, including the New York Times, Forbes, Wired, Boston Globe, The Street, Slate and hundreds of other publications. “Over the past year, we’ve examined both the problem and potential cures,” FSC executive director Alison Boden said. “This panel will allow us to engage the issue with a broader audience, present possible solutions and answer questions. We look forward to this incredibly important discussion.” The webinar, titled "Derisking: Examining Its Impact on the Adult Inudstry's Access to Banking Services," will take place April 24 at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT. It will be moderated by FSC director of public affairs Mike Stabile, and feature the following panelists:  Alison Boden, Executive Director, Free Speech CoalitionAllie Eve Knox, Adult performer and business ownerJessica Goedtel, Financial Advisor, Pavilion FinancialAaron Kahler, Anti-Human Trafficking Intelligence Initiative Pierre Whatley, Principal, FS Vector To register, go to tinyurl.com/FSCregister.
