ASACP Hires Michael McGrady Jr. as Social Media Manager, Blogger

LOS ANGELES—ASACP, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection, has named Michael McGrady Jr. as its new social media manager and blogger. “ASACP welcomes Michael to the team and we look forward to a productive relationship,” said ASACP executive director Tim Henning. “His experience and insights will help us spread the word about the importance of keeping children out of and away from adult entertainment.” “I am thrilled to join the team,” McGrady said. “I do so at a very important time for the adult entertainment industry as it continues to lead the way in child protection, despite criticisms from the anti-pornography movement and politicians who simply don’t understand our industry.” Based in Colorado, McGrady is a critically-acclaimed journalist and commentator covering the legal and business side of the adult entertainment industry and is a contributing writer at YNOT.com where he helps lead the outlet’s political and legal coverage. Previously published in numerous B2B outlets in the tech and sex-tech industries, including Future of Sex, Techdirt, Inside Sources, and others, McGrady writes on online civil liberties, free expression, and basic human rights for publications around the world. His consultancy, My Adult SEO and My Adult Intel, provides market intelligence and strategic communications for adult industry brands. “As a professional in the industry and a die-hard First Amendment advocate,” McGrady explained, “I believe we need to stand together as one and prove that we care for compliance, the rights of sex workers and producers, and beyond all else, the protection of minors from age-restricted content.” In his new role, McGrady will manage the association’s social media and digital communications channels and produce evidence-based content on industry-backed prevention efforts for the ASACP blog. “ASACP is a premier organization in the private-public apparatus engaged in advocating child protection and prevention,” McGrady added. “I’m honored to work for this organization and advance our mission of being a leading partner with groups like the National Center for Missing and Exploitation Children and law enforcement agencies all over the world.” As a non-profit organization, ASACP’s sponsors and members enable it to provide free child protection resources, such as market-specific best practices, a comprehensive code of ethics for app and age-restricted website publishers, and more. ASACP’s Restricted To Adults (RTA) meta-labeling system prevents children’s access to adult-oriented web pages and apps; while its CP Reporting Tipline has processed more than 1.25 million reports to date. “ASACP appreciates Michael and his commitment to supporting the association,” Henning concluded. “By extending our base of support, the association can build a better future for the industry and society’s most vulnerable members. We encourage others to support our efforts on behalf of the children because it’s the right thing to do.” To learn more, email [email protected].
