What are some of the things that companies do wrong in marketing that they should watch out for?

It’s really easy to get stagnant, to be so busy doing all the things and meeting deadlines, that you don’t carve out any time to be creative or seek more education.

The market is constantly changing.

Marketing can be overwhelming, what is the most important thing to start with if you can’t do it all right away?

Besides a simple, beautiful and functional website? Probably SEO.

Does the Rule of 7 still apply to marketing?

Haha. Well. I definitely think there is familiarity (and maybe even persuasion) in repetition, but I do not think this is a hard and fast rule, no. I’ve made purchases the first time I’ve seen something, and there are things I see a zillion times and will never purchase.

What are the challenges to marketing adult or cannabis, and how does a business overcome these?

It’s an interesting question. I’m not sure adult or cannabis have the same challenges they used to.

I think our challenges are very likely the same as any business: a catchy story and timing. Whether it’s an advertising campaign, a media pitch, trigger emails or social media content, you have to dig deep to get people to engage.

The only unique challenge I can think of is censoring content for social platforms.

Is social media really that important and if so which channels are must haves?

Absolutely.

I think having a presence everywhere is ideal.

Even if you can’t post regular content on every channel, at least have a landing page directing people to your website and your active channels – this will also allow users to tag you on that channel. I’m really into video content right now so my favorites are Instagram and TikTok.
