Creating Kate: Up Close With Kate Dee

A version of this feature appeared in the October issue of AVN magazine. Click here for the digital edition. LOS ANGELES — Kate Dee flew with members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines during her five years as a military flight attendant. She tells AVN the job was “an incredible experience.” “I’ve been to 24 countries,” Dee says. “It was amazing. It was fun seeing the world and everything, but it wasn’t a forever job to me.” Dee, who resides in Miami, stepped away from military service in 2020 after seeing the potential of OnlyFans. The decision paved the way for her long-awaited return to adult as the gorgeous native of Ohio had a brief stint in porn when she was 18, doing about 25 scenes before leaving the business in 2011. “I was just very young and I think the pressures of having everyone in my small town figure out that I was a porn star—it was a lot,” Dee recalls. “And the stigma of porn when I was 18 was a lot different than it is now. Porn stars now are kind of like icons.” She says during her decade away from the business that “porn was always in the back of my mind.” “I just wasn’t proud of the work I made and I knew I was growing into the woman I am now. I always was a very sexual person and always wanted to get back into it.” Dee remembers being in her flight attendant uniform scrolling through social media and thinking she could be thriving in adult if she made the move. “I would follow all these porn girls and be living vicariously through them,” she says. “I would think I want to do that, too. And now I’m collaborating with some of the same people who I used to watch. “It’s been incredible just being able to work with some of the same people who I’ve followed their careers for a long time—and being able to express myself sexually. One day I can be a hot maid and one day I can be a hot MILF. I don’t know where I’m going or what I’m going to do next, but I feel free. “I feel like I’ve been missing this for so long and I feel like I’m where I’m meant to be.” Plus this time around, Dee says her attitude is different. “I just ruminated on it for 10 years and I said, ‘if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it right.” After Dee left her flight attendant job, she moved from Houston to Georgetown, Colo., on a whim and then realized that she wouldn’t be staying for long. “I’m a Sagittarius and I just do crazy shit sometimes,” she says. “It was another really small town and within a week of being there I realized I was the odd one out. So I contacted Brian from AMA down in Florida and he flew me down and within two months I was living there.” Since Dee returned full force in 2021 she’s done more than 40 sex scenes, performing multiple times for BangBros, Reality Kings, Brazzers and MYLF. She also has outings for Team SKeet, Bang!, Naughty America, Lethal Hardcore, Nubiles and DickDrainers, among others. “I really like doing the Brazzers shoots, they treat you very well,” she says. “You get your hair and makeup done, it’s so much fun. I get to work with really awesome performers that I only dreamed of working with—like Angela White. I did a lot of scenes with Brazzers that I’m really proud of. “And I’ve done amateur stuff—that stuff is just as fun because every little scene has it’s own magic.” She says White, the three-time AVN Female Performer of the Year, was someone whose career she has followed. “I would watch her porn constantly,” Dee says, adding she has a threeway with White and Mazee the Goat coming soon from Brazzers. She also recently did a scene with Lucas Frost for Penthouse, while Owen Gray is on her to-do list. “I watched his porn for years and I’ve always wanted to do that,” she says. Dee considers herself “a very social person” who has a passion for traveling. “I love getting to know people and I love letting people get to know me through the YouTube platform,” she says. She usually goes on a trip every three months, spending part of her summer in Bali, Indonesia, and visiting Tulum, Mexico, in September. Kate calls Bali “my favorite place on Earth.” “It’s everything—the weather, the culture, the people, the quality of life, the food,” Dee says. “That would be my ideal place to live. I would love to buy a plot of land there someday.” When she was in Bali she used Tinder to find a couple guys to do OnlyFans content with her. “I got a French guy and an Australian guy to put up with my bullshit,” she jokes. While in Tulum, Kate collaborated with Horny Hiking—Conor and Molly Pills. “Molly let me share Conor and that was great. We fucked in the jungle,” Dee says. “We took underwater naked pictures. It was so fun.” As she looks ahead she says she’s excited about her podcast and the collaborations she has coming up—at the time of this interview she was in talks with Dredd and Jenna Starr about working together. Dee also will be collaborating with JMac, a performer she worked with when she was 18 and they both were with the Type9 agency. “We did a scene together at a party but I can’t find it for the life of me,” she says with a laugh. “He didn’t recognize me. I look so different from when I was 18.” Dee realized when she was about 7 that she was intuitive through experiences of deja vu. “I would be trying to go to sleep at night—like when you’re trying to turn your brain off—and I would have these feelings like radio channels going off in my head,” she says. “I always thought these were normal human things and then I traveled overseas for the first time and then the voices were German and I didn’t understand them. There were like full-on conversations in German happening. Then I realized it’s not just your brain, it’s a spiritual thing.” She began using tools and reading books that helped her tap into her abilities. “We all have deja vu. We have marker places. We can go back and forward if we choose to. Think of it as a timeline and then each time you have deja vu, it’s a point that you can go back to in your mind.” Dee believes everyone can tap into their psychic abilities. When she was 18 and moved into her own apartment she tapped into hers. “I was alone with my thoughts and not in a family dynamic. I became a lot more spiritual and intuitive than when I was around family," Kate continues. “I think everybody can do this. I have a gift, everybody has a gift if they tune in a little. Everybody has that little antenna. … Everybody’s born with it—if you want to start to notice the synchronicities.” The performer says she predicted the pandemic through a dream she had—that at the time she didn’t understand. In the dream she was a bird flying over what looked like France and there were bubbles over the houses. She saw a sign that said “Covid.” “I was 10 when that happened,” Kate says. She reads Tarot cards when people reach out to her. “I don’t charge or anything,” Kate says. “You shouldn’t do that. If someone wants a reading I just give it to them. "When I read sometimes I pick up on people’s pasts and traumas. I’ve helped some of my friends and family. That’s kind of a reason I don’t go out and drink any more. When you go into a bar your ancestors and your family members, they’re kind of tagalongs. “When I walked into a room, I would start hearing everybody’s messages.” Dee says there have been times when complete strangers broke down in her arms after hearing her tell them what she felt. “When I’m done and I’m not connected anymore, people will start asking me more questions and I don’t remember what I said because the channel is gone,” she says. “It was only information for them, I’m not supposed to remember it. "It’s not really scary... I’m happy to be a vessel.” Photography by @flightlifemars
