Fresh Faces: Chloe Surreal

LOS ANGELES — Chloe Surreal made her first executive decision before she even started her professional porn career. “I decided to be celibate for three months before joining the industry,” Surreal confesses. “I do think sometimes for certain people who have really strong sexual energies like I do that being celibate for a while can really clear your mind. “I didn’t masturbate, nothing.” By the time she got on set with Alex Legend for Mofos—under the direction of Lea Lexis—for her first boy/girl scene in late February, it’s safe to say Surreal was ready to go. “I didn’t really know Alex Legend, I hadn’t looked him up,” says Chloe, who is a gorgeous mix of Korean and Irish with natural 32Gs. “He’s very large, he’s a big guy. I was shocked and so pleased. It was a great time. And Lea is I would say one of the top three or four directors in L.A. I love working with her. She’s such an inspiration to go from a top-tier performer to a top-tier director. I think she’s the coolest.” A native of the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, Chloe tells AVN she wasn’t sweating her hardcore debut at all. A few days prior to working with Legend she warmed up with a solo scene for ATK. “My thought was there is no real point to be nervous. I had a lot of anxiety when I was a younger person to the point where I would avoid going to places because I would get so nervous,” explains the 23-year-old starlet, whose mother is a Korean immigrant. “But fortune favors the bold. Even if you are a little bit nervous you have to trick yourself into thinking you’re not.” That confidence shows in her performances. By late June, Chloe had done more than 50 scenes, even though most of them had yet be released. Among the studios that already have requested her services on several occasions are none other than Brazzers and Reality Kings. “She’s massively popping,” East Coast Talent owner John O’Byrne tells AVN. “She’s shot 15 times for [Brazzers and RK] already.” “I love working for them,” Surreal adds. “They’re such a positive company in the way they treat you and how much they respect the male performers and how much they respect the crew. If you’re on their set you know everyone is going to be taken care of. That’s really important to me.” Chloe took charge of her career early, contacting and vetting a few agents on her own before deciding to join O’Byrne’s team. She says she wasn’t scouted by anyone and didn’t have an adult social media presence prior to reaching out to agencies. “I wasn’t doing anything in sex work,” Chloe reveals. But all that changed one night when the admitted “pervert” decided to log onto Chaturbate, the live-cam heavyweight that she discovered from seeing a pop-up ad on Pornhub. “That first night I didn’t do much. I had no idea what I was doing but I had a ton of people in my room and I was being kind of flirty and sexy with them,” Chloe recalls. “Then I just kind of started exploring where I could take that—how it could be more sustainable and maybe a little more professional. And I realized, why wouldn’t I just start doing porn? Why wouldn’t I just make that leap? “So I contacted John and a couple other agents. I was basically interviewing them.” Surreal says once she decides to do something she fully commits. “I do a deep dive and find out everything I can about a career or a move that I want to make next in life,” says Chloe, who also lived in Colorado, the South and in the Pacific Northwest before moving back to L.A. Surreal excelled in high school, participating in student government and debate and doing a lot of public speaking before briefly majoring in fine arts with a minor in political science in college. She loves reading, noting she has an affinity for the writings of Pablo Neruda, Anne Sexton, Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath and Leo Tolstoy. “I think you can never read too much,” Chloe reasons. “I think there’s always opportunity for learning and growth. … I’m a big fan of the classics. I’m a big fan of poetry.” She continues, “Anna Karenina [by Tolstoy] is one of my favorite books. I revisit it approximately every six months. “I’m working on a Henry James novel called The Portrait of a Lady. I’ve tried to read it several times and I’ve always been caught up in school and life and haven’t been able to finish it.” Surreal held a variety of jobs before adult, working at Starbucks for six years in addition to being a pre-school teacher for a short stint, a “budtender” at a cannabis dispensary and most recently, a package handler at an Amazon facility. “Wow, that was a brutal job,” she says. “I worked night shift and I would get there at 7 or 8 and some nights I wouldn’t leave until 3 or 4 a.m. I did that for three or four months before I burned myself out. “I have a lot of admiration for people who work in warehouses. It’s tough on your mind and your body.” She started working at Starbucks when she was 16. “The problem is I don’t like coffee,” admits Chloe, who says she’s never drank a Coca-Cola or eaten peanut butter. She has tried Cherry Coke. “I like teas and smoothies.” Among her latest scenes are a three-way with Mick Blue and Xander Corvus for Brazzers called “Big Natural Babe Gets The Double Dickdown She Thirsts For” and her upcoming debut for Blacked, which will mark her first shoot with Vixen Media Group. “I do believe this is a job that I was born to do,” Surreal says.  When she considers her future, Chloe tells AVN, “I think I will perform as long as people want to see me perform.” “If people stopped watching, I would stop performing,” she says. “So for at least the next eight or nine years, that would be ideal. I will be here as long as people want me… I’m not going to try to stick around or force anything. I believe in a solid beginning as much as I believe in a solid ending.” Photography by @theedgeimage
