Khloe Kay Returns From Hiatus With Renewed Energy, Focus

A version of this feature appears in the May issue of AVN magazine. Click here for the digital edition. In the summer of 2020, when the adult industry re-opened after a months-long shutdown for COVID, something about the trans genre felt a littleeeee … off. Mega-star Aubrey Kate was back. So were icons Casey Kisses, Lena Moon and Daisy Taylor. But where was Khloe Kay? One of the fastest-rising stars in the industry—the performer who one director said had “the best butt in all of porn”—was noticeably inactive. “I needed a longer break,” Kay tells AVN nearly two years later. “Even after the time we took off during the pandemic, I still wasn’t ready to come back.” Truth be told, Kay had been contemplating hitting the “PAUSE” button on her career months before the COVID outbreak. She’d been one of the industry’s most in-demand performers since her debut in 2018, shooting approximately 150 scenes in her first two years alone. So popular was Kay that Evil Angel featured her in a 2019 showcase—which is almost unheard of for a second-year talent. “I topped, I bottomed, I did a gangbang … I filled every role,” Kay says. “I was so overworked and traveling all the time. It wore on me. I didn’t want to retire, but I needed to take a step back.” Turns out the time away was exactly what Kay needed. Two years later, refreshed and re-energized, Kay has returned to the industry in grand fashion. Shooting mainly for Adult Time’s “Transfixed” banner, Kay is churning out the highest-quality content of her career. In “The Physical Returns,” Kay reunites with “Dr.” Dee Williams for the sequel to their sizzling 2019 scene, and this time Jean Hollywood joins in the fun. “A Catered Affair” pairs Kay and and two-time AVN Performer of the Year nominee Jane Wilde, one of her favorite cis partners. And “Accidental Gangbang: Hospital Drama” features Kay getting tag-teamed by Hollywood, Jade Venus, Jenna Creed, Ivory Mayhem and Cherry Mavrik. “I love shooting for Adult Time because it’s such good quality, and Bree (Mills) treats us so well,” Kay says. I’m at a point in my career where I can be selective. I’m not just going to give myself to everyone just to make money. That was the issue before I took my break.” Mills says she’s excited that Kay is back in the mix, adding that she has other special projects planned for her in 2022. Along with her natural beauty and sex appeal, Mills said Kay’s spunk and positive energy are what make her such a sought-after performer. “As popular as Khloe has become, her personality has never changed,” Mills says. “So many cis girls want to work with her. She’s very girl-next-door relatable, very genuine. She should be intimidating because she’s so gorgeous. But instead she’s so down to earth and kind and humble and full of gratitude. I always know it’s going to be a good day when she’s on set.” Indeed, Kay is one of the most well-liked performers in the trans industry. Not just by directors, but by fellow talent, who say her presence strengthens the trans field. One of Kay’s dearest friends is Kisses, who coaxed Kay out of her hiatus last summer to do a scene for her AVN-award-winning biopic Casey: A True Story. Kay shot a scene with Dante Colle. “Khloe is just a great person and a great performer,” Kisses says. “She’s gorgeous and has been a wonderful actress in the scenes we’ve performed together. She was a natural from our very first scene. She’s easy to cast because she’s super easy to work with. She’s a pleasure to have on set.” Shortly after filming wrapped for Casey: A True Story, Kay underwent breast enhancement surgery. Kay said she’d wanted to have the procedure for years, but part of her “brand” was that she was lean and chiseled with a gym body and smaller chest. “Most people urge porn stars to get bigger boobs—but a lot of my fans were telling me the exact opposite,” Kay laughs. “They wanted me to keep them small. In the end I had to do what was best for me.” The decision has been well-received. Kay debuted her new look in the fall of 2021 and the feedback has been off the charts. Kay looks better than she ever has—and that’s saying something. “(The surgery) gave the boost I needed,” Kay says. “I’m loving it. I should’ve done it forever ago. I feel so much more confident now. I feel like I look better in outfits and tops and lingerie. It makes me want to work. I’m glad to be back.” Images courtesy of Transfixed.com
