Former Club Media Editorial Manager Lisa Massaro Passes Away

LOS ANGELES — Lisa Massaro, the former U.S. editorial manager for Club Media and 25-plus year adult industry veteran, has passed away. According to a Facebook post Sunday from her brother Joe, she died Saturday in Hartford Hospital in Connecticut after a “brief but hard-fought battle with bladder cancer.” She was 66. Joe Massaro wrote, “Lisa spent most of her professional career working as an editor for Club Media. She also worked as a publicist and marketing manager for Rising Star PR, EMM Media, and Oronoque Village. “Lisa loved to travel and thoroughly enjoyed the time she was able to live in far-flung places like Ducktown, Tennessee, London, England, and Los Angeles, California. She was especially fond of her condo in Monroe, CT, which became her perfect sanctuary, replete with purple furniture, purple walls, and glow-in-the-dark stars on her bedroom ceiling. Anyone who knew Lisa knows how much she cared about the little details being just right. “Lisa was an avid reader, a lover of the arts, and a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt. Lisa is survived by her mother, Mary of Rocky Hill, CT; her brother Joseph Massaro of Wethersfield, CT; her nieces Reia Massaro (and wife Rose) of New Haven, CT and Jillian Massaro (and partner Kodi) of Rocky Hill, CT; and many beloved cousins. She was particularly close to her cousin Raymond Cook of Bethany, CT. “A commemoration event will be held on Sunday, April 10 at the Laurel Athletic Club in Norwalk, CT at 4:30 pm. The eulogy and a chance for loved ones to pay tribute will begin at 5:00, followed by dinner and a celebration of life. “In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to your local libraries, of which Lisa was a lifelong champion and patron.” Massaro worked for Club Media, which published Club International and Club Confidential magazines, for 24 years until it was sold to Magna Publishing in 2009. She was the U.S. liaison for the company, which was based in London, working with photographers, writers and the company’s elite list of contract stars, which included Marilyn Chambers, Ginger Lynn, Tera Patrick and Jenna Jameson. She later joined adult industry marketing and PR firms Rising Star PR and EMM Media.
