Ava LaPrima to Head Pink and White's CrashPad Studio

SAN FRANCISCO—Pink and White Productions has named Ava LaPrima as new director of its long-running queer porn studio CrashPadSeries.com. With a new director at the helm of the company's largest studio, previous director and Pink and White founder Shine Louise Houston will now focus on other endeavors, including the third annual San Francisco PornFilmFestival, presented by PinkLabel.TV. The promotion comes during the studio's 15th anniversary, marking its launch by Houston in 2007. Since then, CrashPad has released bi-weekly episodes that showcase original, inclusive and high-chemistry scenes depicting queer and trans sexuality. "Ava has worked closely with Shine for over seven years on the company's short and feature-length films, and has operated second camera on the set of CrashPad for just as long," said a company rep. "San Francisco-born and raised, a technically trained filmmaker and a trans woman of color with several years of on-set porn experience, Ava knows the CrashPad and its community inside and out and is well-positioned to take the lead." "CrashPadSeries reflects the unique identity of sex and sexuality characterized by San Francisco," LaPrima said. Having adopted the pseudonym Ava LaPrima to signal the adult-oriented evolution in her filmmaking career, the Bay Area-based videographer has developed her craft over several years documenting San Francisco queer club nightlife and directing independent film and commercial projects. She draws from extensive film industry work experience as she carries the torch to continue the CrashPad legacy. "It’s a privilege belonging to a rich history which celebrates individual freedom with pride," she said. "CrashPad will continue to provide a special place for individual safety, respect and dignity for all who join us in the studio and to be a portal of joy and pleasure for our unique audience around the world." With several upcoming CrashPad episodes under her belt, LaPrima has already made an impact with a shift in the natural lighting of the white box location, emphasizing the spacious studio with splashes of color to introduce a new season of queer porn.
