Ami Gan Named New OnlyFans CEO

LONDON — In a move announced Tuesday, Ami Gan has ascended to the role of chief executive officer of OnlyFans.com — the billion-dollar premium social network owned by parent Fenix International Limited. Gan, the head of marketing and communications, ascended to CEO after founding chief executive Tim Stokely announced he’s stepping down and retracting to merely an advisory role at the company.

Bloomberg was the first publication to report this news. According to Gan, her resume includes stints leading marketing and communications operations at Red Bull and Quest Nutrition. OnlyFans corporate released a statement on Dec. 21, noting that Gan has been involved with numerous consumer industries.

“Ami has a deep passion for OnlyFans’ business and I’m passing the baton to a friend and colleague who has the vision and drive to help the organization reach its tremendous potential,” said Stokely in a statement. “OnlyFans is still a new company and Ami brings a fresh energy and reflects who we are as a business.”

“I am proud to assume this role,” Gan said in the statement. “I look forward to continuing to work closely with our creator community to help them maximize control over, and monetize, their content. I will be leading an exceptionally talented team at OnlyFans that is delivering a unique experience for our creators and fans. By blending state of the art technology with creative capital, we are committed to being the safest social media platform in the world.”

Gan takes over OnlyFans.com when scrutiny for adult content-friendly platforms and NSFW creators is at new heights. Anti-porn lobbying groups have accused OnlyFans and the company’s ownership of facilitating what they view as an exploitative environment for individuals on the internet. However, many of these claims are based on falsehoods born from moral panic.

Last summer, OnlyFans.com announced its intentions to end nude and sexual content on the platform to make the company more attractive to investors. The company backtracked on that decision, though. Stokely at the time said that he secured assurances from their financial partners, ensuring that sexual content can stay on the platform. Nevertheless, the scare has sent scores of performers to other sites.

OnlyFans was founded in 2016. Since then, over $5 billion in creator earnings reportedly have been paid out by the platform. It currently has over 2 million creators, with over 180 million registered users.
