LOS ANGELES—When Ryder Rey was 18—three years ago—she flew from North Carolina to Los Angeles to start a music career. She’s a huge fan of Lana Del Rey (from whom she lifted a little of her porn name and whose lyric from “Ultraviolence”—”Blessed with beauty and rage,” is tattooed on her hip) and had some song fragments to work on with a producer. But she had no place to stay, and knew few people. She fell in love with L.A. anyway, in that dreamy, sexy, and often bittersweet way that Lana Del Rey describes it. “Yes, there’s plenty to do in Vegas,” she says, “but L.A, is where everything is happening.” Circumstances (“It’s a very long story,” Rey says) brought her to Las Vegas, where she has been camming, but in late 2020 she took the plunge and contacted OC Modeling, whose co-owner Sandra McCarthy, was “totally cool.” “I am down for anything,” the 21-year-old says she told Sandra, who—it’s a dirty job but someone has to do it—said, “I just want to see you naked” and then signed her. “And a really short time later I was doing a DP with Mick Blue,” she says—her first AVN Hall of Famer.
