Mary Carey Puts in Official Bid for CA Governor ... Again

SAN FRANCISCO—Retired adult performer and AVN Hall of Famer Mary Carey has officially announced a run to replace California Governor Gavin Newsom in the yet-to-be-qualified recall election he currently faces ... thus essentially repeating the infamous campaign she waged in 2003's ouster of Gray Davis, an admitted publicity stunt masterminded by Kick Ass Pictures founder Mark Kulkis while Carey was under contract with the studio that went on to garner an AVN Award for Best Overall Marketing Campaign – Individual Project. This time, however, Carey says she's in it for real. "Last time, I was young, dumb and full of fun," Carey, who's now 40, told Bay Area news outlet ABC7 Monday. "And this time I'm more experienced and I am not going to take this position laying down. I am ready to be on top." Carey is running as a "no party preference candidate," she told ABC7, adding that "her primary policy focus will be on solving the state's homelessness crisis and helping businesses impacted by COVID." She also said she has hopes of resurrecting her "Porn for Pistols" policy that was part of her 2003 platform, which would offer free porn to those who traded in their guns. Carey already has a website for her campaign up and running at marycarey4governor.com—complete with a store offering T-shirts and other swag to help fund the endeavor.
