GoFundMe Campaign Begun to Let Stormy Demolish Trump Plaza

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—Stormy Daniels and Donald Trump have had what some might call a "stormy relationship," what with him paying her off not to tell everyone about their brief affair, and her suing him for defamation—and while all that is not exactly in the past—the payment for her silence is one of the things Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. is looking into—a new GoFundMe campaign in bringing the two back together again—sort of. "Trump’s once glittering [Trump Plaza] Casino has been shuttered since 2004 and now exists only as a decrepit and semi-demolished hulk," wrote Jon Levine in a not-very-complimentary article for the New York Post which went live Saturday. "Earlier this year debris from the building crashed down onto the Atlantic City boardwalk. "The full structure is set to be dynamited on Jan. 29, 2021—just nine days after Joe Biden will move into the White House. The city is officially auctioning off the rights to hit the demolition button in an effort to raise money for the local Boys & Girls Club." And that's where the GoFundMe campaign begun by Daniels fan Joe Bedell comes in. "Help raise money to bid for Stormy Daniels to push the button to implode Trump Plaza in Atlantic City for Charity," Bedell wrote on the campaign page. "I will bid at the Auction site based on amount raised. I live in [St. Louis]  but will nominate Stormy to complete the demolition if we win. She has expressed interest! If she can't do it, I will nominate someone else appropriate or I will go myself, with acknowledgement to all of you!" Daniels was apparently misinformed on Thursday that the GoFundMe campaign had been canceled, but tweeted, "I really want to do it...and we all know I'm good at pressing buttons. LOL #teamstormy." Bedell also wrote that if his bid for the honor of blowing up a Trump building isn't the winning bid, he'll donate whatever money is raised to an organization that encourages young kids to read more, readyreaders.org, and some of his donors have suggested other charities that might make good recipients as well—and Bedell solicits such recommendations. The auction is being held by Bodnar's Auction Sales, and more information about it can be found here, along with a countdown clock that will run until the auction ends. As ofr Saturday afternoon, $50,000 was the high bid on the site, but some speculated that bidding might reach $1 million before bidding ceases.
