2021 Transgender Erotica Awards Show to Take Place Online

LOS ANGELES—Spokespeople for the Transgender Erotica Awards (TEAs) have officially announced that the 2021 event will be a virtual awards show. The event will be livestreamed on Sunday, March 7, 2021, with more info about the event to follow.  “When we were forced to cancel the 2020 live event only days before it was scheduled, I never guessed we'd be in the same position a year later,” lamented TEA Executive Producer Kristel Penn. “Although our digital event was a success, I fully believed at that time we'd have an almost normal show for 2021.” The TEAs were the first adult awards show to move to a virtual platform after its in-person event was canceled a day before it was due to take place because of the COVID-19 safety protocols instated by Governor Newsom back in March of 2020. The show quickly pivoted to an online format by having the event pre-recorded in pieces with host Domino Presley as the Mistress of Ceremonies and numerous video contributions from the adult industry, and then live streamed to the world.   “For our 2020 show, everything was printed and ready-to-go: media walls, programs, marketing materials. Everything had to be dumped and all of our deposits were either forfeited or are still on hold. We had the first week of December as a hard deadline to make a decision about whether we’d do a live event in 2021, and currently, all evidence is showing it would be highly improbable. It would be irresponsible to encourage people to make plans for a show that is unlikely to happen as a live event. “We let our sponsors know last week that we're likely going to be doing a digital event and we want to make sure that the adult trans community are aware, although we regret not having a live show this year, we're going to do our utmost to present a positive, uplifting award show that showcases the amazing talent who’ve worked throughout this, the most difficult of years.”  Additional information about the 2021 TEAs will be announced in the coming weeks, including the official 2021 nominees.
