Joanna Angel, Small Hands Showcase Quarantine Creativity in ‘Lana’

“The entire experience of making this movie during the pandemic will always be very special to me,” said Angel of the shoot. “Small Hands and I spent an entire month on it, with just each other, transforming every nook and cranny in our house into a set using anything and everything we had around — and figuring out how to get creative with whatever was available at Target curbside pickup.”

With the provocative tagline “Don’t Let Her In,” Lana plays like a clandestine sex tape with a voyeuristic approach to filmmaking. Angel — who directed the scenes — is quite proud of her and Small Hands’ homemade achievement.

“We got to do what we normally don’t get to do when making a movie in the typical way it’s done on set, and that was take our time — because, well, we sure had a lot of it!” Angel added. “This was a true and challenging labor of love.”
