BIPOC-AIC Introduces ‘Wellness Wednesday Yoga Series’

The BIPOC Adult Industry Collective (BIPOC-AIC) is pleased to announce its online “Wellness Wednesday Yoga Series.” The series is designed to reduce performer stress in a judgment-free space led by a BIPOC Adult performer and certified yoga instructor. The series’ first installment occurred earlier this week on Wednesday, August 5th at 5 pm PST.

“Wellness Wednesday” is the first series of restorative care planned by the BIPOC Wellness and Mental Health committee. The committee, chaired by Jet Setting Jasmine Johnson, Master Fetish Trainer and Licensed Psychotherapist, was developed to prioritize the wellness needs of performers that use their bodies to entertain, educate, and earn.

“We are very much aware that performers are experiencing high levels of stress-related to many external factors. Circumstances related to changes in work conditions due to COVID-19, the collective traumatization of Black and Brown people worldwide, and the day-to-day stigmatization associated with sex work require particular support and care. As a collective, we want to be able to support one another in a very comprehensive way, and this series will begin to meet that need,” said Johnson.

The Wellness Wednesday series provides free Restorative Yoga classes for BIPOC performers at all levels of practice. Allies within the Adult industry are encouraged to join by purchasing a donation-based ticket. All donations will support the instructor’s cost and go towards the BIPOC’s mutual aid fund.

“This is not about self-care. This is self-preservation,” Johnson continued. “Making sure our extended community of sex workers have a safe space to decompress during this challenging time is vital to prevent burnout. I’m incredibly happy that the wellness committee was able to find a certified wellness practitioner from within the sex work community. Our mission is always to put money into the pockets of Black and Brown sex workers in all we do, and finding someone who checks all the boxes was reaffirming that we are on the right track.”
