Devon Returns to Performing

LOS ANGELES—Devon, who has been a contract performer for Vivid, Digital Playground and Jill Kelly Productions and is a member of the AVN Hall of Fame, has returned to active performing. "I never retired. I just took my break," she told AVN. Her hiatus was compelled by family problems: "I had a family member who got very ill, so I moved my whole life from California to Florida to help take care of them," Devon said. But once the family member recovered, she was itching to return. "It was in the back of my mind — you may have heard this before — that I was missing the industry. I thought, 'Let me see if in can still handle doing scenes.' It had been a couple years since I last shot. I contacted Keiran Lee and he was like, 'Yeah! Let's do this.' I did a scene with him 10 months ago, for Brazzers, just to see if I still had it in me. I was testing the waters. I got through the scene with Keiran and I'm like, 'OK, I can handle a nice big penis and still be able to walk [laughter].' I was wondering if I can still do this. Everything worked out great." Changes in the industry since her days as a Vivid Girl have made an impression. "Oh my gawd! Things have changed so dramatically, it's unreal. There are so many different girls in the industry I cannot keep up. I got in the industry at exactly the right time, for longevity of my career. There weren't a million girls, there was just a handful of us. The production on set isn’t that much different. The technology has changed, but there's the same number of people on set. One change: They tape you before the scene, ask you if you're OK with everything we're doing, both before and after the scene. That is something that did not exist before." No longer a contract girl, Devon is now represented by OC Modeling. "I remember Devon back in the day when she was with Vivid," OC Modeling co-owner Sandra McCarthy told AVN. "When she contacted me to come back to shoot I was really excited. She is a real porn star and she looks fantastic. The years have been kind to her. So of course I said 'Heck yeah, I’ll be your agent. You're a legend." She will be very welcomed back." "The first time I spoke with Sandra, we spoke on the phone for over an hour," Devon said. "Just shooting the shit. We knew so many people in common over the years. That first conversation was really good. She was just what I was looking for." Although Devon is back, she isn't coming back to stay forever. "I’ve been ready to get back into it, have some fun, while making some good money. I’m dying to start nursing school. I did attend Pierce College, to be a veterinary technician, but had trouble when it came to dissection of the animals. The counselors suggested nursing — or becoming a nursing assistant, if I didn’t want to go through as much schooling to become an RN. I like taking care of people, always have, it’s something I enjoy. And, as we all know, it’s best to stay with a job you like. "I want this to be my last run, and take as much advantage of it as humanly possible. There are things I haven’t done I want to explore. I want to try a D.P. That was one of the last things I was asked to do, before I had that family issue. That's one of the things I'm looking forward to doing. That'll be a first. I'm looking to do another toy line — I did one back in the day with Vivid, a pussy and ass mold for Doc Johnson. I want to do more anal scenes. I'm looking to work with pro talent, meaning guys who know how to follow a script, don’t have wood problems — asking me to 'do a favor' non-stop, if you know what I'm saying. I don’t mind helping somebody out, but if you need it after every 'cut'… I like the Keiran Lee's, the Johnny Sins', the Erik Everhard's, the guys who have been around a little longer. I'm looking forward to working with all the new cocks who came in since I left. "As long as there's no drama, it's fun." Currently based in Las Vegas ("My first time ever living in Nevada") she's planning a move back to the Los Angeles area. "I do plan on moving back to California. I lived there for 22 years. I don’t know exactly when because of this pandemic, but I'm only four hours away from Porn Valley. Do they still call it that?"
