‘Alt-Right’ Watches Most Porn But Has Least Sex, New Survey Finds

LOS ANGELES—Members of the political faction known as the “alt-right,” the extreme right wing of the ideological spectrum, are more likely to watch porn than any people who subscribe to other points of view. But at the same time, alt-right individuals are less likely to actually have sex with another person. Those are just a couple of the findings in an extensive survey of sex and politics conducted by the tube site xHamster, released this week.  The survey received responses from approximately 15,000 users, who were asked to fit their political views into one of nine categories ranging from alt-right and “far right” on one extreme, to “far left” and “antifa” on the other.  Respondents were then asked a series of questions about their sexual preferences, identities, and habits — including their porn consumption.  More users describing themselves as “alt right” said that they had sex with a partner “rarely or never” than members of any other affiliation. But those calling themselves “non political” were also largely non-sexual, also falling heavily into the “rarely or never” category. But when it came to watching porn, almost 61 percent of alt-right individuals said that they watched at least once every day. The second-most right-wing category, “far right,” also comes in second in porn viewing, with approximately 59 percent  enjoying at least a once-daily dose of porn. But the left-wing extreme, antifa, also showed a voracious porn appetite, with just over 58 percent watching at least once every day. The survey results show that lack of sex does not always correlate with porn viewing. Antifa and the far right also led the way in the sex-having category, with 41 and 43 percent respectively saying that they engage in sex with another person “several times per week or more.” But which partners? Antifa members were most likely to describe their sexual identities as gay, bisexual, asexual, or “other.” Only about 40 percent of “antifa” respondents called themselves “heterosexual or straight.”  On the other hand, more than 70 percent of “conservative” people described their sexuality that way, with more than 60 percent of “far right,” alt-right,” and “libertarian” respondents also calling themselves straight. But at the political categories moved further left, from “progressive” to “far left” to “antifa,” the more likely survey respondents were to name their sexual identity as something other than heterosexual or straight. While antifa members watched slightly less porn than their counterparts on the extreme right, they were much more likely to pay money for their porn habits, at least during the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns. About 45 percent of antifa adherents said that they spent more on porn during lockdown, compared to less than 35 percent of alt right, and 31 percent of far right porn viewers.
