Fresh Faces: Katie Monroe

LOS ANGELES—Katie Monroe left her native Cleveland for California because “I was sick of snow. The weather out here is amazing—it’s beautiful all the time.” At age 35 it was definitely change of pace, but it’s paying off. Monroe is a cancer survivor and “that was like an awakening for me. I had breast augmentation, obviously [she’s a 32DDD], and that made me feel more like a woman, more like I could I do anything. And I decided, You only live once. Why not try it and see what happens?” Previously she worked in finance, in Nashville. “It’s a great place to go if you’re a singer, but I wasn’t really getting what I wanted from Nashville.” The financial industry “was really good to me. But I just didn’t want to do the 9-to-5 anymore.” In porn she’s done “a lot of threesomes with girls and guys and boy-girl scenes,” two of which she singles out as favorites: Quinton James and Tyler Nixon for Brazzers and Naughty America. “I liked the two performers. They’re very passionate about what they do and they’re both really nice. And those companies are so amazing. I grew up watching both those companies, so it was my dream to work for them.” For relaxation, she says, “I hang out with my dog—he’s pretty much my everything—watch Netflix, go to the beach. And I paint. It’s very therapeutic. It’s like you let out all your emotions on this canvas, and when you’re done you have this masterpiece.” Would Monroe like to do that for a living? “No, because I feel it would take away my therapy part of it, and I like that way too much.” Photos by Rick Garcia/@IndustryByRick
