Twitch Nudity Regs Now Allow for Cleavage But No Underbust

SAN FRANCISCO — Twitch this week revised its nudity and attire policy for streamers in attempt to streamline its enforcement of some sexually suggestive content. Full or partial nudity is still verboten — specifically prohibiting exposed genitals or buttocks and, for women, the nipples. “We do not permit exposed underbust,” Twitch said, but “cleavage is unrestricted as long as these coverage requirements are met.” The revised nudity and attire policy outlines six situational exceptions where attire that otherwise violates the platform’s standards is still acceptable. Those situational exceptions include swimming and streaming while at a beach, concert, or festival; body art; breastfeeding, embeds of Twitch-endorsed content; real-life streaming outdoors in public, and “context transitions” such as moving from a beach setting to outdoor IRL streaming. Twitch’s new policy is effective immediately, with no grace period for creators’ new content. Previously posted content that might violate new guidelines should be removed by May 1. A growing number of male and female adult entertainment stars have been cashing in on the live-streaming platform. Twitch found that its old policy for nudity and attire policy “relied on an assumed shared understanding of what is appropriate in specific contexts.” The policy revision follows the February suspension of body-painting streamer Forkgirl, who was later reinstated.
