Larkin Love Featured in Cosmo UK, Medium Articles

AMSTERDAM – Award-winning Indie porn performer, role-play expert and “Cosplay Queen” Larkin Love was among the adult performers highlighted in a recent Cosmo UK feature about the intersection of the adult industry and the #MeToo movement, Love’s public relations reps noted in a statement released today.

In a piece entitled “Why Did We Ignore Porn’s #MeToo?”, Cosmo UK writer Catronia Innes “uncovers how the industry’s biggest stars have been speaking out for years, but no one is listening,” The Rub PR said in its statement. “As a caveat, Innes does preface that most of what happens on set is consensual, although this article looks into what’s not. The piece touches on James Deen’s work and personal relationships with Amber Rayne and Stoya, as well as an unnamed adult star. Innes also covers boundaries, the importance of agents, and what you can expect to make as an adult star.”

The article references an assault Love suffered, an incident which left her with permanent damage to her head and neck. When the case was taken to court, however, Larkin’s adult career formed the basis of the defense for the accused; “[They said] ‘Because she works in BDSM porn, how do we know it wasn’t consensual?’,” Larkin told Innes.

In the Cosmo UK piece, Larkin also provided her perspective on ways in which adult performers can find themselves under pressure to do things they don’t want to, which often don’t fall into the category of what many observers would consider sexual assault, per se.

“One of the main ways boundaries get pushed is because of economic pressures to comply and get the shoot don,” Larkin told Innes. “For me, the more diversified my income streams, the less pressure I’ve felt to just go with it, because of wanting that cheque and needing to make rent. I always tell younger performers to have at least one thing that you own, because it gives you more power to walk away.”
