Lena Paul Interviewed in British Doc 'Bring Back the Bush'

To shave or not to shave—it's a question not only for adult performers, but for all women. And British body positivity activist Chidera Eggerue, who is perhaps best known for her #SaggyBoobsMatter online campaign, opens up discussion on that question in a documentary on the U.K.'s Channel 4 titled Bring Back the Bush: Where Did Our Pubic Hair Go? In her previous effort, Eggerue challenged the societal consensus that women with large breasts must wear brassieres in order to prevent sagging. And in her new, hour-long British TV film, the 25-year-old author and internet influencer takes on the more recent belief that female pubic hair is “somehow awful and unclean,” according to a report by The List.  The central narrative of the film focuses on Eggerue’s quest, along with five of her friends and fellow online influencers, to allow her pubic hair to grow freely for six weeks. But she also ventures into the field to ask women—and men—their own feelings about the “bush.” Appropriately, Eggerue conducts one of her interviews on a porn set in Southern California, where she interviews adult performer/director Lena Paul, a 2020 AVN Award winner, who discusses her pubic hair—and admits that it is “polarizing” for her fan base.  Paul, who was one of five performers sharing this year’s AVN Award for Best Group Sex Scene, is interviewed on the set of "Out With a Bang," a Digital Playground featurette that was nominated for Best Girl/Girl Sex Scene. Also seen on set are performers Casey Calvert, Karma Rx and Xander Corvus. “It’s very polarizing,” Paul tells Eggerue in the film. “There is definitely a lot of men that are like, ‘Oh my God, her bush is disgusting! Lena Paul in so cute, but she would be so much hotter if she shaved.” Eggerue also interviews one male porn fan in the documentary, who acknowledges that due to the convention of shaved female genitalia in most contemporary porn videos, he now prefers not to see women with pubic hair in real life. But the offending interviewee gets a measure of comeuppance when Eggerue subjects him to a waxing session, to have his own pubic hair removed. She also interviews other men who admit that while they prefer women who shave their pubic regions, they find trimming or shaving their own pubic hair to be “too much trouble.” At the same time, one of the influencers who took part in the six weeks of non-shaving said that she had lost two jobs from “brands” who reneged on job offers after learning that she was letting her pubic hair grow. After two airings earlier in the week, Bring Back the Bush will be broadcast on Channel 4 Thursday at 12:55 a.m., and on the 4seven channel Sunday at 12:10 a.m. Photo By Channel 4 Twitter Screen Capture
