Indie Star: Cory Chase on Fans, Femdom and Fetishes

Just two years ago, the AVN Fan Awards were expanded to include honors for Favorite Indie Clip Star. Cory Chase is the second person to win the title. When she was first nominated in the category, Chase said she was asked to define the term. “I had to explain to my fans that an indie clip star is usually somebody who is funding and producing and hosting their own content with their own money.” And that certainly describes this veteran independent producer. A self-described “late bloomer,” Chase racked up a lot of life experience before she started doing porn. She joined the military right out of high school so her parents wouldn’t have to pay for college. “That was my gift to them,” she says. “I do not regret going in. I would go back and do it all over the same way. I definitely did enjoy serving my country. … I would not trade it for anything else.” She was in the military for six years, serving in an air defense artillery unit that was not deployed to Iraq. They did a lot of hurricane duty, helping families in crisis: “We were the ones who were called upon.” After that she continued to help people in crisis. “I started doing porn when I was working as a paramedic. … I still keep up all my certifications. It’s something I enjoy. I would like to go back to it. … Right now I enjoy what I do with the porn. I just keep it up to remind me of all the hard work I did when I was younger.” Though she didn’t become a full-time director and performer until 2009, Chase says her “unofficial start” was in the early 2000s, when she began producing content with husband-to-be Luke Longly. “He liked videotaping himself having sex with his girlfriends. I got with him and I got turned on when he was videotaping us.” Later, as the capacity for sharing video online became more fully developed, Chase says, “it turned me on even more knowing that guys were jerking off to the videos that we were posting on the internet. It was just ‘my hottest girlfriend’ type of things. It was very amateur in the beginning. And it’s still kind of amateur now, what we do.” Though better known for her work on Clips4Sale, before that Chase and Longly posted content on a site called Southern Charms. “All of our photos and videos from the early 2000s ended up going on this website.” Chase also was an early creator of what she calls family role-play porn, which she’s been shooting for the last nine years. She recalls her first custom video, “My Rebellious Daughter,” which featured a then-unknown Christy Mack. “She’d come back from college with all these tattoos and her hair and everything,” Chase says, describing the scene. “Playing Christy Mack’s stepmom when I was 24 was just the weirdest sensation ever,” she recalls. “And once I did some research and found out about the fetish itself and what it truly meant, why not? I definitely understand why people enjoy it so much. … It’s teaching—it’s unconditional love that elders have for a younger group.” Another fetish that fans demanded of her was femdom. She recalls her first attempt: “I had full-blown head-to-toe stockings with a bustier with fishnets on the arms and red lipstick and a riding crop.” The scene was POV style, with Chase pretending to dominate a sub. “I was beating the crap out of this ottoman … jamming my foot into the ottoman and whacking it with the riding crop and telling the camera and the viewer how pathetic and useless they are. … I am very thankful to the fan who ordered those custom videos, because he went above and beyond on the scripts. I probably wouldn’t have gotten into the whole femdom situation had he not written it out. … He helped train me to be a better dom.” “My evolution as a performer has pretty much come from my fans,” Chase says. “We started with bondage; it was pretty much damsels in distress. I was bound by all kinds of things—chains, ropes, handcuffs, Saran wrap, scarfs, and I would just wriggle myself out of them. … Then some fan would say, I want a foot job from you, and we’d do a foot job scene. Another fan wanted the taboo, and we did the taboo. [The clip stores] JerkyWives and Bareback Studios were formed. We did some of the fart fetish, like the ass worship stuff, and Lady Farts came about. We did underwater. I found out that I really, really loved masturbating underwater, so we started Cory Chase Underwater Babes. It was all just fans requesting some sort of theme or video, and we posted it on the internet and it sold. That’s how we got so many stores on the Clips4Sale network.” She has a total of 11 different stores on Clips4Sale and almost all of them are offshoots from custom videos. They would ask fans if they wanted to pay more for custom videos only they could see or if they wanted to pay less and allow the clips to also be sold to other people for a cheaper price—and most clients would opt for the cheaper price. Plus, she says, “There were some fans who liked the exclusivity … but over time they found that spreading their thoughts and their fetishes out to the rest of the world made them feel even better about themselves because they knew that they were providing a pleasure even for other people in their own fetish groups.” Tastes in fetish are always changing. “Things come and go. Like, feet were in when celebrities were posting pictures of their feet, and ankle bracelets were in. So feet and foot jobs were in ten, fifteen years ago and they kind of died down. And I notice they’re starting to come back up again and the whole foot fetish, the nylon fetish, it just comes in waves. ... I do MILF stuff, I do superhero stuff, I do a wide variety of different things. I like to flow with the way things are. I’m adaptable and I change with trends. … I go where the money goes and how the money flows and I enjoy trying something new, trying something different and exploring different things.” As far as her favorite types of content to shoot, “Cosplay and family roleplay are neck and neck.” She also loves underwater masturbation scenes. “I enjoy the weightlessness, the warm water—or if you’re in the ocean, the mix of cold water and warm water. … You’re having to hold your breath, so it’s exciting everything. It’s quiet or it’s loud. It enhances everything. I’m a Pisces, so water has always been in my blood.” In addition to creating her own content, in the mid-2000s she began shooting professional porn. Her first was shot in 2005 for the Reality Kings series MILF Hunter, though it didn’t go live until 2007. She recently signed with talent agency ATMLA, and she’s working with more producers, including Brazzers, Girlfriends Films, Twistys and GirlGirl.com. In another coup, Chase was tapped by pleasure product manufacturing giant Doc Johnson to be the latest star molded for the Main Squeeze line of toys molded on well-known performers, including Dani Daniels, Mia Malkova and Lela Star. “We’re very proud to be molding Cory for her own Doc Johnson toys,” said Scott Watkins, vice president of sales and marketing at Doc Johnson. “She has a large and passionate fan base, and we know they are going to be very happy with her Main Squeeze.” Chase’s Main Squeeze debuts this month. Being an indie producer is all about maximizing one’s reach online. Chase says, “Fans are more dedicated to the way that they get their porn.” Rather than following models, they spend time on certain platforms so she finds she needs to spread her work out among various platforms—Clips4Sale, ManyVids, Chaturbate, MyFreeCams. “You have to spread yourself out to be more visible to everyone.” She believes fans are still loyal to performers. “However, they want to see their favorite performers work on the sites that they like. … Once everything gets onto the internet, it’s in a million places and you have to provide that content in a million places—and in a million ways.” Chase is upbeat about the future. “I’m shooting a lot at the end of the year with a bunch of companies.” Perhaps most notable are scenes with two high-profile sites that were created by Greg Lansky. For Tushy Raw, Chase shot an anal scene with Mick Blue. And her scene for Blacked Raw, with new Blacked contract star Sly Diggler, is particularly notable because it’s her first interracial booking. “A lot of new stuff will be coming out soon,” she says. And she hopes the fans will like it. “Pleasing a fan is the biggest payback that I can get.” Fan voting for the 2020 AVN Awards continues through January 26.
