FabScout Partners With Health Provider For Free Health Screening

Adult industry performers on the East Coast will soon gain access to health care services, including PrEP and HIV navigation services, as well as STI screening—all for free. The service comes through a new partnership between the nonprofit Midland Cares, part of Midland Medical Center in Oakland Park, Florida, and FabScout, a leading industry talent agency for gay porn models. “This is a beautiful thing. Straight. Gay. Trans. Male. Female. Black. White. Rich. Poor,” said Fabscout Entertainment owner Howard Andrew, in an email to AVN.com. “It’s for all sex workers.” Midland Cares is newly formed nonprofit health care service whose mission is to “provide innovative ways to address health disparities in our communities,” according to Midland’s director of programs and innovation, Gregory Beltran, in a prepared statement. “It made natural sense to pair with a pioneer in the adult entertainment industry, FabScout Entertainment, Inc, in our first public health partnership,” Beltran said, adding that because performers in the adult industry may travel frequently, “we have tailored our PrEP and HIV medication services to assist those who may have lost or forgotten their medications.” “I am very proud to partner with Greg and the team at Midland on this,” said Andrew. “We arranged this so testing and treatment is free to sex workers.” Andrew described the services the new partnership will offer as “all-encompassing,” even extending to arranging transportation and housing for adult performers and other sex workers in need of health care through the new program. Counseling for personal issues or sustance abuse can also be arranged. But Andrew cautioned that the service is aimed at the personal healthcare needs of adult industry workers, and will not replace talent testing, as now occurs through the Performer Availability Screening Services (PASS) system. “But models can get pre-test or handle their own business with Midland,” Andrew said in the email—emphasizing that his agency receives no financial benefit from the partnership. “Fabscout is not getting compensated in any way, just knowing my gang is getting taken care of finally,” he said.
