Bridgette B.: The Metamorphosis of a Spanish Doll

Bridgette B. is featured in the November 2019 issue of AVN magazine. See the digital edition here. Photos courtesy Jonni Darkko/Evil Angel When Bridgette B. took time out from a hectic schedule for an interview, she talked to AVN by phone on a Sunday afternoon as she headed back from the beach. That conjured up a compelling mental picture of the busty Barcelona-born adult star barreling down Malibu Canyon Road in a convertible sports car, long hair flying and her Bardot-esque curves mimicking the winding road. Of course, we have no idea what car she was driving, but it’s an irresistible image nonetheless. After more than a decade in the business, adult performer Bridgette B. has finally been captured in a star showcase—and some fans thought it was high time. But good things come to those who wait. Directed by one of the masters of the genre, Jonni Darkko’s Bridgette B. Spanish Fuck Doll gives followers some big firsts from this busty Barcelona-born performer. And according to Bridgette B., it may be her last. “I really think Darko’s showcase is my one and only. I’m kind of giving the fans just one shot—like a one-shot deal type of thing—because I really wanted this to be as organic as possible,” she says. Confirming that some said this showcase was “long overdue,” Bridgette says that after being in the business for more than 10 years, she's “grateful that people continue to be so interested.” The curvy performer believes her fans are attracted by “the brand that I’ve created in the industry within the last decade.” She describes that brand as “a glamour model, but not your normal expectation of a porn star.” Bridgette says she sees Spanish Fuck Doll as a sort of metamorphosis. Part of that is in how she looks: “When we first shot the movie, I was blonde. We did two scenes as a blonde and we kind of ended it as a brunette.” But part was in how she behaved. Rather than scenario-based scenes with lots of dialogue, Bridgette tried something different here: the kind of straight gonzo that fans don’t usually get to see her in. The movie features her first blowbang and her first double-vaginal penetration, plus a girl/girl scene with Kianna Dior. And she also does a boy/boy/girl scene with Jax Slayher and Rob Piper. Her favorite scene? “I would say each one. And I know it’s clichéd, but each one has its own special moment. And Darkko just has such a way of being. He’s so spectacular as a director.” She likes that Darkko can show the essence of who she is but still give her “that platform of breaking free.” Bridgette’s agent, ATMLA’s Mark Schechter, sees 2019 as a breakout year for his client. “I have represented her for seven years, since I took over the agency. I have seen her continue to rise year after year. … She has had an amazing year for herself.” One factor in her success is “having the gift of gab,” she says, which helps her get booked. Though she was born in Spain, she’s a fluent English speaker. “Growing up, I was in a Catholic boarding school and most of the students were American, so in order to make money I would tech them Spanish,” she says. After that, she minored in theater and worked with a dialect coach. “When I went to grad school at Ohio State, I continued theater work,” she says. That theater training can be seen to good effect in such movies as Kay Brandt’s The Lustful Wife (Adam & Eve Pictures), Mike Quasar’s Closing Time (Wicked Pictures) and Killer Wives (Digital Playground). Though dialogue-heavy projects are more time-consuming, she embraces the challenge. “Where most performers dread having a 16 or 18-hour day, I welcome it because I love the dialogue and the script part of it all. Mindgeek—with Brazzers and Twistys and Digital—they’ve really given me that avenue, that platform, which, ten years deep, I’m so grateful for.” She’s also amused by the bookings she now gets for the “step genre,” where it’s challenging to find a fresh approach. “How many stepmom and stepdad scenes can you do?” she says, laughing. But she enjoys the mental challenge of nailing a character and taking a “regular glamorous sexual scene to another level.” Whatever she’s called on to do, she is up for the challenge. “I take it seriously. I treat each scene like it’s my last. So hopefully as the years have gone by and more genres evolve, I’ve evolved with it. Virtual reality, etc. Who knows what’s next?” One thing that is definitely new is her involvement with a lubricant called Looby Tooby. This coconut oil lube, which comes in a convenient tube, ticks off all the boxes for consumers looking for body-safe products: natural, organic, non-GMO and vegan. Because it’s made from coconut oil, it melts into the skin and leaves everything feeling smooth and soothed. Right now it comes in strawberry, but check out the website, LoobyTooby.com, for news about a new flavor on the way. Or follow the company on Instagram.
