Angie Rowntree’s “Alla Prima” Named Finalist at Int. Shorts Film Fest

Sssh.com founder Angie Rowntree’s short film Alla Prima has been named a finalist in the Best Erotic/Adult Short Film category of the International Shorts Film Festival (ISFF), Sssh.com announced today. The selection means that Alla Prima will be screened along with the rest of the ISFF winners and finalists at the festival itself, which runs from December 6-12 in Melbourne, Australia.

Rowntree said she’s “honored to have my work named as a finalist and very excited about Alla Prima being screened” at the ISFF.

“I’m so proud of this film and the incredible performances of Ava Mir-Ausziehen and Malcolm Lovejoy,” Rowntree added. “The connection and intimacy between them are so intense you can truly feel the passion build as the film unfolds.”

While Rowntree has made a name for herself with story-driven features like Gone and Invictus, she took a completely different approach with Alla Prima, which is propelled almost entirely by visual elements. As described in a release announcing the film’s selection as an ISFF finalist, in the short Mir-Ausziehen and Lovejoy “serve as a collective canvas, creating a living painting which changes with each touch, kiss and caress. Cool blues and rich golds cascade down their bodies as the intense, mutual pleasure builds.”

Rowntree said the atypical approach she took in making Alla Prima is a function of the fact that she’s “always looking for different ways to explore new territory in erotic film.”

“Each different film is its own world, whether it’s a feature or a short,” Rowntree said. “In Alla Prima’s world, the focus is on the message Ava and Malcolm send with their bodies, which is all about the beauty people both create and embody when they’re making love.”
