‘Cosmo’ Reviews Debut Virtual Reality Porn Film By Erika Lust

Feminist, “ethical” porn creator Erika Lust has released her first foray into the virtual reality porn genre, and the women’s magazine Cosmopolitan is down for it. In a review published online Wednesday, reviewer Taran Bassi gushed that the 12-minute group sex scene was like “the best erotic dream of my life, but this isn’t a dream.” Bassi added, “VR porn is the only immersive experience you need in your life.” The film that led her to these raves was 360º of Lust, a new release from Lust which the filmmaker herself describes as “fully immersive, cinematic VR and the ultimate voyeur's fantasy.” Bassi would certainly agree, saying that the four-person orgy depicted in the VR productiion was “exactly the kind of sex party that’s dominated my fantasies for years.” The only drawback, Bassi found, was that she viewed the show in a London Soho bar, fully clothed and “surrounded by complete strangers.” “Under normal circumstances, being turned on in public would be something I'd probably want to hide,” she wrote. But what excited the Cosmo reviewer most about the film, judging by her review, was that Lust’s maiden entry into the VR format was “totally different to the male-centric, penis-heavy VR porn of most mainstream companies.” “VR porn is pretty much always made by and for cis men,” she wrote. “They typically involve putting on a headset, looking down and seeing that you have an erect penis. It's all about the straight male point of view.” But Lust told Cosmo that she planned her VR debut to be a ”very immersive and emotive experience for the viewer.” “I ended up with four performers and came up with the idea of mirroring them around the room in different situations," Lust told Bassi. "So in front you might see Kali masturbating, and behind you she is having a threesome with Katana and Julia, and then to your right she is performing oral sex on Mickey.
