'Perspective' Gets Hollywood Premiere

The premiere, which was preceded by an afternoon press interview and photo opportunity, featured a red carpet entrance before the edited R-equivalent production was presented at the theater's casual open-air rooftop movie venue, with beach chairs and wireless headphones for maximum sound fidelity. "I approved the unrated cut, which is the equivalent of an R-rated cut. I did a lot of trimming, but when I felt that the flow and the pace was where we wanted it, once I got it to that point—I haven’t watched it since," director Mills told AVN. "My wife hasn’t seen it. Usually we turn on the TV and watch it together, but no. I haven’t seen it on a big screen with 200 people there." Perspective stars Angela White and Seth Gamble as a couple whose marriage is falling apart, seen from each partner's stylized point of view. Gianna Dior and Abigail Mac, who both appeared in Perspective, with Brittany Andrews. "It was quite traumatic filming this movie," White said. "Both Seth and I went through a lot to get into those characters. We were both feeling it a long time after we finished filming. We had the script ahead of time and we met up on a number of different occasions and went over it. We role-played and we both went to an acting coach to workshop our parts together. There was a lot of preparation. Committing to a lead role in a feature this big is stepping out of my comfort zone. It forced me to grow. I invited and I welcomed that growth, but it was certainly a challenge." "I'm still feeling residue," Gamble admitted. "I'm actually doing a retreat next week for three days to get back into it. With roles like this, when you put yourself in that position, it forces you to grow. I saw in a documentary that when Jim Carrey played in Man on the Moon, he said that every character he played became a part of him. I feel like this will be a part of me forever." "I went straight back to work," White said with a laugh. "I have offered Angela and Seth that whatever kind of very romantic, vanilla, whatever kind of scene they want to do, non-triggering, really happy—just let me know what it is, I'll do it," Mills said. "We're just holding each other and crying," Gamble offered. "While I'm penetrating her." Everybody cracks up. Introducing the movie, Mills said, "This is our first official film premiere and I'm humbled and overjoyed to see such an amazing turnout, and so many faces that I admire and respect. This is the unrated mainstream feature-film cut—cue the cops. [sirens on Vine Street] Perspective was a year in the making as a project, from the writing to the absolutely unbelievable commitment of our two lead actors, Seth Gamble and Angela White, who spent countless hours, working independently and together, to develop their characters and to prepare themselves for these roles. They were supported by an all-star cast of some of the best actors in our industry. ... We shot this film over two weeks in June, long days and nights, including some that turned into the next morning. This is a film about what emotion does to people, particularly under moments of great duress. There will be an open bar at the reception afterwards if you need it." "It was completely surreal," White said after the screening. "I've come to this venue to watch mainstream movies and to see myself up on the screen where I had watched other movies is completely surreal. I found myself at one point thinking, 'What's going to happen?' and then remembering, 'That's right, I know.' I hadn't seen it with the music. I'm so proud of what we were able to put together. I'm so proud of Seth. He's an incredible actor and he put so much into that performance. I'm blown away. Thinking about how far we've come. How many hours and days we spent. One day we were on set until 6 a.m. the next day. I was there 23 hours. I was so thankful I had the next day off. "There's a lot of history in this building, and now we are part of it.
