'The Roast of Julia Ann' Set for Oct. 3

LOS ANGELES—AVN Hall of Fame performer Julia Ann will be the guest of honor at the first ever Adult Industry Celebrity Roast in celebration of her 50th birthday on October 3. Hosted by veteran director Mike Quasar—a fellow Hall of Fame personality—at the V-Lounge Bar & Nightclub in Tarzana, Calif., The Roast of Julia Ann will feature of night of comedy with a star-studded lineup. The scheduled roasters at press time were Stormy Daniels, Jenna Foxx, Kayla Paige, Vicky Vette, Sean Michaels, Tommy Pistol, Evan Stone and of course, Quasar. Red carpet starts at 7 p.m.; the show will go from 9 to 11 p.m. and be streamed live on AVN Stars, the new social media platform designed for the adult industry by AVN Media Network. It is a 21-and-over venue. “I've always loved roasts,” Julia Ann tells AVN. “The Dean Martin roasts are still amazing to watch. I was asked if there was anything ‘off the table’ and I told them they had free rein. “Roasts aren't for everyone. You really have to have the ability to laugh at yourself and the absurdity that human species often excels at. I'm so fortunate to have such a funny and awesome group of people willing to take this on, since you have to be able to take it as well as dish it out.” Julia Ann continues, “As well I wanted the night to benefit something other than a celebration of my 50th birthday (holy shit I'm still alive). So, I picked Operation Blankets of Love. They are amazing and are always stepping up to help in crises. I highly suggest looking into their organization. “AVN Stars is going to help us make this available to those that can't be there. In my perfect world I could fly in everyone who wants to come and have a venue large enough to hold them. Unfortunately, that's not the reality. However with the help of the AVN Stars everyone will be able to attend, and they will be able to participate in raising money for Operation Blankets of Love.” Quasar tells AVN he is looking forward to a night of insults. ”It is a great honor and privilege to be asked to roast one of my best friends on earth for her big birthday, the great Julia Ann,” Quasar says. “I have known her since before menopause. It will be a night of hilarity for sure. My only concern is that Julia will break a hip from laughing so hard at all of the jokes at her expense.” Another AVN Hall of Fame performer, Vicky Vette, says she has known Julia Ann since 2011, when they teamed up on her official website. "She is a veteran in this industry and deserves to be roasted! It's about time!” Vette says. “It’s going to be brutal! I feel kind of bad because how do you insult the kind lady who takes care of all the helpless puppies? Watch and see! “She asked for this and I know she can give as good as she gets! This evening may not be for the faint of heart! All money raised is going to Operation Blankets of Love, so make sure you show up!” Three-time AVN Best Actor Tommy Pistol tells AVN he is equally excited about laughing at Julia Ann. “Turning 50 must be hard, but to also volunteer yourself to be roasted by your pornography friends is insane,” Pistol says. “I've known Julia since I moved to LA in 2007. She's always been kind and a very polite person to me that I consider a friend. So roasting her isn't going to be easy, but I must do my job. “I think this is a great idea and I hope it catches on for others. As far as craziest jobs to have, porn has to be in the top 10. I'm up for anything that gives us a chance to humanize our industry. What better way to show the world we're all normal and just as fucked up as they are then with a good old roast."  Organizers say they hope The Roast of Julia Ann will be the first of many adult industry roasts in the years to come.
