Abbey Rhode Featured in September Issue of CAMStar

LOS ANGELES—Abbey Rhode tells AVN when she logs onto MyFreeCams it’s like going to hang out with her friends. “I appreciate that those friends also want to see me naked!” Rhode jokes. “I love the freedom that camming has given me to go to school, to volunteer on the side, and pursue my passions.” The former Lingerie Blackjack dealer from the Pacific Northwest earned two degrees while making a living on MFC—and now she has her sights set on a Master’s in Social Work. She says going to school while also camming taught her how to manage her time. “Sometimes, I almost find it more challenging to not be studying,” Rhode admits. “When I was in college, I had limited time to cam so I made the most of it. I was pretty strict with my schedule and it allowed me to be more consistent. “Now that I am out of college, I have much more free time and I struggle to use it wisely sometimes! Although, I will say, college is hard and I am glad to not be doing both right now!” In this exclusive Q&A for CAMStar accompanied by 12 pages of photography by Keith Ryan, Rhode discusses what achieving her #RHODEHOUSE goal meant to her, her love of music, her favorite tattoos and what it’s like having a ferret as a pet, among other things. How did you build your community on MFC?  I think that I got really lucky when I began camming as I began networking with other cam girls immediately. I went to my first AEE and an event called “CamGirl Mansion” within three months of starting. Because of this, I was able to pick a lot of girls’ brains. I think this helped me to figure out my style and what works for me and my room. I try to be fun and engaging with people always! I love to tell stories and talk a lot! I encourage a “community” based room where we say hello to each other and ask how our days or weeks have been. I want everyone to be friends! What is “chewie snuggle” on your tip menu? I have a massive Chewbacca stuffed animal that I got from ComicCon San Diego years ago. If you tip 43 tokens in my room, I will snuggle him and he will growl! How do you use MFCShare? What have been some of your more popular MFC Share video clips? I love MFCShare. I’m glad that I have a place to upload my content without the risk of getting my account shut down. I’ve been around for a while so I remember the days of using file-sharing services and having to name your files something inconspicuous so that you don’t get your account removed. I was at the tail end of a 12-hour camathon, the second one of that month! I was exhausted and I am sure I was writing raffle tickets. This tip was for MORE RAFFLES hahaha What advice would you give a new cam model trying to establish herself? Take care of yourself. Take time off when you need it or log off if you’re too cranky. Remember that you are in control of what you do when you cam, how you want your room to be, when you want to cam, and how much of yourself want to share. How challenging was it for you to complete two degrees while making a living as a cam model? Sometimes, I almost find it more challenging to NOT be studying. I do plan to go back and get my Master’s Degree. What subject would you like to get a Master’s degree in? I would like to get a Master’s in Social Work and become a licensed clinical social worker. When did you start getting into D&D and what do you like about that game? I started playing D&D in 2013. What I love most about it is that I get to spend time with friends being weird and playing as a character who is as much like the person as they want it to be. I like to cook a big meal for game nights as well—that brings me a lot of joy! How would you describe your fitness regimen? It was very strict, but now I am trying to find the balance in working out and staying sane! Where do you post your photography—or is it more personal? Unless the shoot is with people from the adult industry, I don’t generally share it. What kind of photography do you like? I used to love landscape photography and would shy away from taking photos of people but as of late, I have become passionate about capturing moments in time for people. For example, I just did a maternity photoshoot with a longtime friend of mine and I was so happy to be able to capture this moment in her family’s life that will be over before they know it. Which book are you reading right now? Tuesday’s with Morrie What kind of writing do you like to do? I like to write for myself. Musings, short stories, and the like. However, I would like to start writing scripts. What kind of scripts would you like to write? I really have no idea. I like doing adult short stories, erotic stuff, but I don’t know if I would write erotic scripts. I’d probably do drama or comedy! What was your very first tattoo and when did you get it? It was the pink sparrow on my left shoulder. I got it in March of 2008, I believe. Can you tell us about a couple of your favorite tattoos and what they mean to you? There is a chicken on my ankle that I got on a whim with my friends last fall that represents a tradition we all took part in. The large piece on my left thigh is the Tin Man carrying Dorothy out of the field of poppies and above it it says, “I get by with a little help from my friends.” This piece is one of my most meaningful. It represents all the support and love I’ve been given from my friends and reminds me to give them love and support also! What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world? I would like to see everyone just care a little more about each other and respect people no matter where they are in their lives. If I gave you a million dollars, what would you buy right now? My mom has always wanted a Jeep, for as long as I could remember. I would take her to the dealership under the pretense that I am buying myself a Jeep and then ask her which one she’d get if she were buying one. When she answers, I would say, “Okay, it’s yours!” Who is your celebrity crush? I have more than one haha… Jason Mamoa. Seth Rogen. Gal Gadot. What’s your favorite kind of food? I go through phases with food. Currently, I am on a ramen kick! What’s next for you—how do you see the rest of 2019 and beyond? As this is written, I just closed on my house, so I plan on spending time decorating and making it mine. I have plans to go to Europe for my first REAL vacation since I started camming. And I celebrate a milestone birthday this year that I’m pretty excited for! Someday I want to go back to school and I would love to have a family in the future!
