Britain’s Channel 4 Airs ‘Generation Porn’ Documentary Tonight

A new British TV documentary about the porn industry and the influence of porn on popular culture airs its first episode Wednesday on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. The three-part series Generation Porn “will illustrate how the porn industry exploded and the consequences for all of us,” according to director Philippa Robinson.  The documentary features some well-known names in the porn industry offering their insights into the effects of porn of society, including prolific director Mike Quasar, and 2019 AVN Awards Trophy Girl Gianna Dior, who reveals that before getting into the industry, “My whole sex education was me going to a class and them forcing us to sign a card that said we would be abstinent until we got married. That was it.”  Also featured are Dior’s colleagues Gia Derza and Kendra Spade, both 2019 AVN Best New Starlet nominees. Spade comments on how porn has taken the place of sex education in a society still badly hung up when it comes to discussing sexual issues. “I feel like I was watching porn at such a young age because I never got real sex education,” she says in the documentary.  “If I had been educated on sex, I wouldn’t have been having it at 13 years old.” But according to David Nath, one of the Generation Porn executive producers, the documentary does not bring any sense of judgment either to the personalities in the show who create porn, or to the teenagers who watch it.  Dior especially makes a point of expressing her satisfaction with her chosen line of work. “I love porn. I can be myself,” she says. Spade also displays her enthusiasm for the job, noting that it hardly seems like a job to her. “Today was not work,” she tells the producers. “I turned up, I fucked a guy, I got paid.” Generation Porn debuts on Britain’s Channel 4 at 10 p.m. British Summer Time on Wednesday, July 10.
