Alice Little Wants Cannabis Lounges At Nevada's Legal Brothels

CARSON CITY, NV—Licensed Nevada prostitute Alice Little, who's not only a social media influencer but also a pro-cannabis activist, has been speaking up about the sexual health benefits of cannabis and advocating for the right to use marijuana products in legal brothels. “Nevada is now a state that has legalized both prostitution and cannabis, but it’s virtually impossible to legally enjoy each of these wonderful experiences at the same time,” said Little, whose base is the legal brothel Moonlite Bunny Ranch. In the early 1970s, Nevada legalized prostitution in the form of regulated brothels operating in certain rural areas of the state. In 2017, Nevada became the fifth state to legalize recreational cannabis. While it’s legal to purchase cannabis from licensed dispensaries for recreational purposes, there are severe limits as to where cannabis can be consumed. Cannabis enthusiasts aren’t allowed to consume the product in most hotels and in public places, including casinos, bars, restaurants—and legal brothels. Little believes that, like sex work discrimination, restrictive laws surrounding cannabis use have more to do with stigma than with actual facts. “As a licensed sex worker, I know what it’s like to practice a profession that is unfairly stereotyped and stigmatized,” Little said. “Just as sex workers are often wrongly considered fallen women that enter prostitution because they are uneducated or have no other option, marijuana has a decades-old reputation for being a drug with no helpful properties that turns people into ‘burnouts.’ “Well, as regular marijuana product user and hard-working woman that achieved substantial financial success from my work in prostitution, I’m here to tell you that both stereotypes couldn’t be further from the truth.” Little says many of her customers already use cannabis to treat sexual conditions and that the freedom to consume cannabis with these clients in the brothel setting would enhance their experience. “Cannabis is used regularly by several of my clients to treat a variety of conditions that inhibit sexual performance, such as erectile dysfunction, anxiety, and low libido,” Little said. “Many of my customers say that marijuana use improves their overall sexual experience and intensifies their orgasms. “Most legal brothels in Nevada have a lounge or bar area that legally serves alcoholic beverages,” she added. “It’s frustrating that we’re able to enjoy a relaxing drink with our clients but we can’t freely use a recreational product that is a much better match for our industry.” Little has legally used cannabis products to treat a medical condition and she has promoted cannabis-related products like CBD tinctures on her YouTube channel through her sponsorship program. “I personally have a medical marijuana card and have used CBD products with tremendous success to treat debilitating migraines that threatened to seriously affect my work-life balance,” Little said. “So, I’m definitely a strong advocate for marijuana’s medical and recreational benefits.” Little had hoped that legislation allowing for cannabis lounges in dispensaries would pave the way for similar lounges to be allowed in legal brothels. But, in June, the Nevada Legislature, supported by Governor Steve Sisolak, adopted Assembly Bill 533, which delays the opening of any legal cannabis venues until at least July 2021. “Legal marijuana and legal prostitution—it could have been a match made in heaven, but instead it looks like we’re stuck in purgatory for a while,” Little lamented. Nevertheless, Little has dubbed herself the “cannabis courtesan” and she vows to advocate for greater freedom for marijuana users going forward. Little is no stranger to political activism, having co-founded the Nevada Brothel Association in 2018 to fight a referendum aimed at closing legal brothels in the state.
