Backstage.com Looking For Talent For Adult-Related Productions

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—A few in the adult industry may have noticed that acting jobs aren't quite as numerous as they were even a couple of years ago, and many talent have begun searching for or creating their own gigs, either off-camera on in mainstream productions. Fortunately for them, Backpage.com has just announced casting calls for a number of adult-related or -adjacent productions that span the country—and some might be just right for actors/actresses who don't live in the L.A. area. Most prominent is the call put out by Amazon Prime's award-winning series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, which is looking for background characters as it plans its third season's shooting. "Talent, aged 18 and older, is wanted to play penthouse party goers, Playboy bunnies, and Hollywood industry types," the solicitation reads. "Talent must meet specific physical requirements, including no visible tattoos. There will be a wardrobe fitting in New York City on dates TBD. The shoot will take place on July 26. Pay is $210 for 12 hours of work for nonunion actors and SAG rates for union actors. Apply here." Even more adult-oriented but more local is TAIM, which stands for "Trident Adult Image Management," described as "an indie dramedy series that focuses on two best friends and their team who run a PR agency within adult entertainment." "Talent, aged 18–38, is wanted to play three lead roles in the series," the solicitation reads. "Rehearsal dates are TBD. The pilot is scheduled to be shot in late August in L.A. Pay is $100 per day with meals and beverages provided. Apply here." Then, in the not-quite-adult-but-adjacent vein is a casting call for some principal roles in a Warsaw, Indiana production of The Rocky Horror Show. "Wagon Wheel Theatre is casting its upcoming production of The Rocky Horror Show," the solicitation reads. "Talent, aged 20–35, is wanted to play several principal roles the production including Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter and Janet Weiss. The contract will run from Aug. 20–Sept. 8 in Warsaw, Indiana. Pay is $400 per week plus housing provided. Apply here." And finally, in the not-at-all-adult-oriented vein, they're looking for family and mainstream types (18 and older, natch) to appear in ads for Barclay's Personal Finance company, which ads will "give an inside look at your weekly spending and savings." "Filming will take place the first or second week of July in New York City; Los Angeles, California; Tampa, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Seattle, Washington; San Francisco, California; and Chicago, Illinois," The solicitation reads, so lots of possibilities for non-L.A. residents.
