New Hope Sprung for the Instagram Banished?

CYBERSPACE—The clamor of frustration from the adult entertainment community over being unfairly and unceremoniously booted from monolithic social media platform Instagram has grown ever more thunderous of late, and a recent announcement by the Facebook-owned photo sharing app would seem to offer some glint of an indication that those cries have been heard. According to a report by Engadget, Instagram announced plans at an early-May media briefing in New York City to introduce a new in-app appeal tool over the next few months that will allow users to request a review of content that has been removed from his or her account. Any submitted appeal will be directed to a different reviewer from the one who made the call to take the content down, and if Instagram finds that it does not violate any of the platform's policies, the post will be restored. More promising still, while Instagram indicated at the media briefing that the new appeal tool will at first only be applicable to individual posts—starting with those that have been reported for nudity—its function will eventually expand to allow users to appeal the disablement of their accounts. In the meantime, AVN reminds adult industry members and fans that it has created a new social media platform, AVN Stars, specifically tailored to their needs and interests, and free of the restrictions Instagram and other platforms impose. The adult community is encouraged to explore AVN Stars here. Also, those wishing to block the known personal account handles of the internet "troll" who goes by the name "Omid" and has caused hundreds of industry-related Instagram accounts to be disabled may obtain them privately by emailing [email protected].
