Trial Opens for Woman Who ‘Lost Her Mind,’ Killed Hubby Over Porn

An Arkansas jury on Monday heard from prosecutors that a 69-year-old woman shot and killed her husband in his own “man cave” after she saw that he had ordered an adult entertainment channel on this DISH Network satellite TV service, according to a report of the trial by The Pine Bluff Commercial newspaper.   The wife, Patricia Ann Hill of Pine Bluff—a city of about 43,000 located approximately 40 miles southeast of the Arkansas capital of Little Rock—simply snapped, the prosecutors said, when she saw that her husband Frank Hill, 65, had re-ordered the porn channel even after she had previously canceled it.  Even though the couple were effectively separated, with the husband spending most of his time at home in a shed that he had converted into a “man cave” while his wife went to work, according to Hill’s defense lawyer, she still found his repeated purchase of the satellite porn channel to be a “personal affront to her and to her god,” defense lawyer Bill James told the jury.  The slaying took place on July 28 of last year, when Patricia Hill opened the estranged couple’s shared satellite TV bill, and saw that the porn channel she had earlier canceled had been added back in to their DISH subscription.  She then stormed out to the shed occupied by Frank Hill, prosecutors said, and kicked over a table on which sat the husband’s beer, cigarettes and other personal items. As Frank Hill stooped over to pick up the scattered items, his wife went back into the house, retrieved a .22 caliber Beretta handgun, and pumped two bullets into her husband as he kneeled on the floor of the shed with his back to her, picking up his stuff, according to the prosecutors’ account. She then called police and reported that she had just shot her husband. Frank Hill was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he could not be revived, and was pronounced dead there. James said that his defense will center on the woman’s psychological state when she pulled the trigger, saying that she “lost her mind” when her husband refused to give up the satellite porn channel.
