Hot Lingerie Trends, New Pleasure Products on Display at Altitude

LAS VEGAS—Neon, flashy sequins, new packaging, new products, major milestones … all of it is easily found on the show floor of the first Altitude Intimates Show of 2019. Altitude returned to the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino for a three-day run, April 8-10. Lingerie and pleasure product manufacturers exhibited at the trade show, where buyers and other attendees could find the hottest fashions and latest trends. In lingerie this season, there is plenty to choose from, as everything from bright neon colors to faux fur to oversized sequins were all the rage. In the Roma booth, there was plenty of sparkle, as booth models showcased outfits that caught the light and brightened the room. J Valentine’s booth also featured outfits adorned with sequins, as well as faux fur coats with bright colors and lights. The trends are geared toward a younger market, whose members are looking for pieces that can be worn not just in the bedroom, but also outside the home, explained Primrose Boon, merchandise director for Fantasy Lingerie. “The younger market is looking for something that can serve multiple purposes,” she said. “To have a piece that makes you feel sexy and seductive in the bedroom and can be worn to a festival atmosphere is a big deal.” Fantasy Lingerie introduced a number of new pieces and collections at Altitude that fit that description, including its new Sheer range of boxed body stockings, and everything from teddies to babydolls to two-piece sets that feature unique details, including fishnet, animal prints, neon colors and removable garters. The company also debuted new collections meant to redefine “suburban livelihood,” Boon said. The pieces in each collection are meant to take traditional representations of women from the 1950s and 1960s and give them new definition. The Spring & Summer Hanging Collection features lingerie outfits in pastel colors and floral patterns with names based on classic cocktails: The Man Tai is a kimono sleeve robe with a keyhole cutout in the back made of a light mesh with floral design and matching panties; the Pink Lady is a strawberry cream-colored bra with molded cup and thong panties paired with a tie-back gartered mini-skirt; and so on. The Premiere Hanging Collection features white bridalwear pieces based on the cult classic Valley of the Dolls: the Jennifer is a halter top with matching panty; the Annie is a bed jacket and panty set; and the Neely is a lace romper. In a booth next to Fantasy Lingerie, Coquette—a Canadian-based lingerie manufacturer celebrating its 40th anniversary this year—treated visitors to their boxed lingerie collection, available in One Size and One Size XL, and featuring everything from costume sets to babydolls, teddies and two-piece sets. Spartacus, a company known for BDSM-themed gear, showcased a new line of collars and cuffs lined with leather and featuring a white or pink snakeskin pattern on the outside. Another set is lined with soft faux fur and padded, with bright, shiny red PU stamped with a crocodile skin pattern on the outside. The company also offered educational one-sheets titled “Spank: Pleasure Intensity Guide,” “Pinch: The Wide, Wild World of Clamps”  and “Stretch: Guide to CBT.” In the Fun AF Products booth, reps from exclusive distributor SOS Distribution presented the new product Juicy AF!, a peach-flavored gummy sex supplement. The concentrated formula can be consumed as little as one-quarter at a time—with the rest stored in the resealable packaging—with results lasting up to 72 hours. Several distributors were exhibiting at Altitude, each showcasing a number of manufacturers in one spot. In the Holiday Products booth, attendees were able to get up close and personal with the new Magic Wand Plus, the latest incarnation of the popular wand-style vibrator celebrating its 50th anniversary. Eddie Romero of Vibratex, the company that exclusively brings the wand-style vibrator to the American market, noted the Magic Wand Plus features all the legendary aspects of the corded original with some impressive updates. The Magic Wand Plus come with a removable charging cord and a silicone head (versus the vinyl head of the original), as well as an on/off button instead of the toggle switch used on the original. The three speeds vary between 2,700 rpms and 6,300 rpms. The new style also results in new packaging of all the models. “They each have a color scheme that makes them cohesive, but still distinctive from one another,” Romero said. The MD Science Lab booth showcased the Swiss Navy Lube brand, and reps hinted that new products might soon be on the horizon. Satisfyer—which sponsored much of the trade show, including gift bags for attendees and the poolside cocktail party on opening night—debuted its Satisfyer Luxury range. They are crafted from either pure aluminum or metal with leather accents. The booth also was drawing attention for its recent team-up with Elle magazine, where the companies packaged their products together for more than 15,000 qualified subscribers. The Nalpac booth was home to several manufacturers and new products, including the new Collection range from Blush Novelties, the newly packaged Coochy Cream brand from Classic Erotica and the Exercise Medical Pelvic Muscle Training Set from Shots America. With four models—Kegel balls, a rabbit-style stimulator, a G-spot version and a single-shaft vibe—the set also includes a wearable FitBit-style watch that functions as a remote to control the stimulators as well as a tracker for usage and progress. Also proving popular in the distributor’s booth was the new Intense Travel Vibe—available in Petite and Expert sizes—from Nasstoys. Shibari Wands showed off its new Voodoo range, which features some of the best-selling products from the Shibari Wands line a well as new items, all in color eye-catching packaging. “We will make our original Shibari Wands line available exclusively to Amazon, and the new Voodoo line will be exclusively for retailers,” explained company rep Danielle Seerley. The new range includes the Money Bunny, a rabbit-style USB rechargeable vibrator; the waterproof egg-shape vibe perfect for beginners, the Egg-Static; and the Plug Walk, a stainless steel anal plug safe for use with all lubricants. Among the other exhibitors at Altitude were Touch of Fur, a manufacturer known for its metal anal plugs decorated with animal tails of both real and faux fur; Uberlube, a popular lubricant manufacturer that creates body-safe personal moisturizers in silicone- and water-based formulas, as well as a hybrid variety; Electric Novelties, which presented Hustler-themed novelties, the popular Glas line of hand-blown dildos, the Blue Line of C&B gear and more; Cousins Group, which displayed its Pornstar Signature Series of strokers; Sensuva, a company known for its creams and potions to enhance sexual activity; and UP 24-7, a manufacturer of sexual supplements.
