Aural Sex: A Roundup of Porn Podcasts

Adult podcasts are more popular than ever, with the medium gaining a massive, throbbing following. Unlike traditional radio shows where most guests make 15-minute appearances, podcasts give porn fans a chance to get to know porn stars and other guests more intimately. The guests usually talk for an hour, delving into their most private, personal lives. Here are a few of our fun favorites.   The Pornhub Podcast With Asa Akira In January 2018, porn star Asa Akira was named brand ambassador for Pornhub, and her official duties include hosting a porn podcast. According to Pornhub’s description of the podcast, “Join author, poet, and recipient of two penises in her butt (at the same time) Asa Akira, as she is joined by her other porno and non-porno friends. They discuss all things pop culture, sex and feelings.” Referring to herself as an “award-winning asshole,” the sexy, self-deprecating and honest Asa comfortably chats with fellow porn star friends such as Stormy Daniels, Dana DeArmond and Joanna Angel. On an episode with DeArmond, the two candidly chat about the dreaded “BV” (bacterial vaginosis) and how they both encountered performers with stinky poon they had to work with. Listening to this podcast will make you feel like a fly on the wall when Asa’s girlfriends come to visit for some really personal girl talk. In another episode, Akira devotes a whole hour to interviewing her boyfriend Sean, which she says “could be either the worst idea ever or the best.” The episode helped answer questions most people want to know about dating a porn star, such as “Is the relationship monogamous? (In her case, right now for the first time ever, yes), and “How many times does she have sex with her boyfriend?” (They say 30-40 times a week!) The episode turned out to be the best idea ever. The boyfriend episode even addressed her own fears (“Can I be monogamous with him forever?”) and his, when he became her boyfriend again as adults, after breaking her heart when she was 14 and he was 16. His fear, hilariously, was “After all that time being a porn star was her vagina all “torn up”? Turns out, he reports that she is still miraculously “tight.” (Guys always have this idea that putting a bunch of dicks into a vagina is going to stretch it all out, but if you can push a baby the size of a basketball through it, a few monster schlongs is nothing.) “Asa is funny and smart,” says director Axel Braun. “And I also like that she is unapologetic.” Listen to Asa’s podcast for free here.   Holly Randall Unfiltered Photographer and director Holly Randall started her podcast because she “wanted to give adult performers a voice, and to show the world what porn is REALLY like behind the scenes,” she says. So many people have the most outrageous misconceptions about the adult industry, and I really wanted to dispel those myths.” Her very first episode, with her wonderfully non-conformist, industry veteran, beatnick-hippie parents, is epic. Her mother, Suze Randall, one of the most accomplished and famous erotic photographers from the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, is epic. Her British mum, now 72, traces her interesting career from her fashion photography days where male superiors called the shots, to the early topless photos she took on the side, which eventually led to her doing her own thing selling massive amounts of sexy tittie pics to the U.K. Sun’s “Page 3’s” topless photo section. That led to more sexually explicit photos for Larry Flynt at Hustler (“I liked Larry Flynt because he never gave a shit about what other people thought of him,” she says), more work at Penthouse, and pictorials and centerfolds at Playboy. “We were making $8,000 a week with all the pictures,” says Holly’s South African dad, Humphry, 77, who couldn’t believe it at the time. ”And that was the 1970s.” An accomplished author of three books, he managed the couple’s photography business since the beginning of Suze’s illustrious, pioneering career. Along the way Holly, who on her first podcast episode is already fun to listen to, asks them about their nudism, open marriage, swinging, orgies, controversial careers and early drug use. “Yes, we did acid,” her father admits on the podcast, “but it was about micro-dosing the LSD. We just took 1/20th of what everyone else was taking,” he says. “Which made us more sober than everyone else in 1967,” Suze adds. Sixty-six episodes later, the episode with her parents remains Holly’s favorite. Listen to all 66 episodes here. The episode with her parents can be found here. Randall says her show differs from others “because I really tap into who my guests are as people. I don't ask them salacious questions like "how many times do you masturbate" or "what is your favorite position?" I ask them about their hopes and dreams, their fears, their real lives. Because of her podcasts, feedback from her listeners is that they see porn stars differently now. “They see them as people, not just sex objects,” she says. “It's been really gratifying.”   This Week in Sex With Allan Fuks The funniest podcast out there is hosted by NYC comedian Allan Fuks (yes, that’s his real name, which is why he also goes as Allan Finn) and comedian Keanu Thompson. “We’re a sex comedy podcast,” they say, and if you listen to the show you’ll hear “completely open, honest and embarrassing TMI about our weekly sexual exploits. You’ll also learn about the latest sex news, trends, scandals, and more.” Guests range from comics to porn stars to best-selling authors.” The show originally was broadcast in front of a live audience at at an upscale NYC strip club, but after a while “they told us we couldn’t do the show there anymore,” says Fuks, “because we kept making fun of the stained couches.” The show is now taped at the Museum of Sex. On a recent episode, Fuks discusses “massage porn,” (“So relaxing, “says Fuks. “I watch the last 5 minutes”) and then gives sex advice to girls whose new boyfriends won’t wear a condom. (“Tell them they must use condoms. Scare them. Tell them you’re really fertile and you’ve had like 20 abortions.”) We look forward to seeing Fuks appearing on late-night comedy TV shows in the future. The podcast launched in September and King is amazed at how fast his audience has grown. “The most encouraging thing,” he says “ is that we are gaining acceptance as a “mainstream” podcast as opposed to just another “porn podcast.” We were approached by a mainstream ad agency recently and have just signed our first sponsor, a lingerie company.” King started in adult radio eight years ago and hosted SiriusXM shows on Playboy Spice Radio and Vivid Radio. A few years ago, AVN asked him to start hosting panels at the AEE expo that would be helpful for aspiring performers and producers, so he decided to do a podcast version of his panels. “For each podcast we bring on an expert who can help inspire others or provide them with helpful tips,” he says. “So far, we’ve had performer Victoria June on talking to performers about pros and cons of cosmetic surgery (including boob jobs and vaginal rejuvenation), director Bryan Gozzling talking about the kind of planning and safety measures that go in to rough scenes, and performer Karma RX talking about how she went from being homeless to being one of the top stars in the business. We have upcoming shows planned with a talent agent, a dominatrix and a muscle/fitness performer. Adult entertainment is not limited to California any more … we really want to reach those people all over the world who have thought about becoming performers, directors or webcam artists, or who are just curious about the adult industry.” “My wildest day in adult radio when we decided to have a pornstar fantasy football league and invited ten pornstars,” he says. “As the draft went on, the performers became bored with football and much more interested in each other. Within an hour or so, the draft just became an orgy. There were bodies everywhere—like Caligula. I’m not complaining, but I learned a lesson there about keeping things under control.” Check out the pulsating podcast here.   Susan Block: The Mother of Porn Podcasts Dr. Susan Block has been broadcasting a radio show since 1984, before podcasts even existed and their hosts were even born. Her show has been called The Dr. Susan Block Show since 1991, when she got her Ph.D. Some of her famous guests have included Bettie Page, Arianna Huffington and Timothy Leary. “We have had so many funny/sexy/special moments,” she says. “It was fun to watch Angela Sommers do a temptation-drenched, panty-less pole dance right over Dave Bautista's nose, though he did stay stoic and true to his girlfriend. Then there's one of our regular guests, Catherine Imperio, who draws portraits of people and bonobos with a sharpie she holds tightly in her sphincter. "This art was done by an asshole" is how we describe her work, which is quite popular at our gallery. The most common question callers ask on her show is "Am I normal?" They ask in relation to a wide range of sexual interests, fetishes, fantasies, pleasures and problems. Lately, most common concerns are cuckold fantasies, #MeToo, body image, BDSM, polyamory and Post-Trump Sex Disorder (PTSD).” “On the show, she says, we try to follow the Bonobo Way of female empowerment, male well-being and peace through pleasure. A portion of all proceeds from our work goes to help save the real, highly endangered bonobo apes from extinction.” See all the show blogs and audio from the shows here.
