Stormy Daniels Gives Her Side Of ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ Fiasco

Stormy Daniels appeared on British television Monday morning, in a pre-taped interview, to explain her side of the story regarding last week’s controversy over her planned appearance on the United Kingdom reality show Celebrity Big Brother, denying press reports that she had demanded more money or acted “abusive” toward members of the show’s staff—allegations that appeared in a story in the conservative tabloid The Daily Mail on Saturday, as well as in other weekend British tabloid reports. Daniels said that she planned to donate her entire fee for the show to charity, and had agreed to appear on the show and “apologize to the British fans,” but that she did not want to enter the “Big Brother house,” where she would not be allowed contact with anyone outside of the show itself, due to her ongoing divorce proceedings regarding the custody of her seven-year-old daughter. “I got word there was a development in my custody case,” Daniels said on the Loose Women broadcast. “I was very honest—which I guess was my mistake—I told the truth to the producers that I was uncomfortable spending the night in the house. I needed to be able to, you know... being a mom comes first and I wanted to be able to talk to her.” Loose Women is broadcast by the British commercial TV network ITV. Celebrity Big Brother airs on a competing commercial network, Channel 5. Daniels’ interview with Loose Women was taped on Friday. She went on to say that the Big Brother producers then told her that she could spend the following day, Friday, in the house and at the end of the day record a “diary” in which she explained her situation. She was "happy" with that scenario, she told the ITV interviewers, only to be informed later that the Big Brother producers had changed their minds. “They came back a couple of hours later and said, ‘You’re either going to go on and stay in the house, follow the contract to a ‘T’ or we’re deporting you in the morning at 6 a.m.’,” Daniels said. “They said, ‘You have to leave and we have to put you on a plane back to your port of origin. You have to leave the country.” Daniels’ version of events appeared to conflict with, or at least failed to mention, the explanation offered by her lawyer Michael Avenatti on Friday. As AVN.com reported, Avenatti said in a statement that Daniels objected when the Big Brother producers "insisted she conduct herself in a certain way. They attempted to control her and produce a certain result, which she did not feel comfortable with.” In the Loose Women interview, Daniels acknowledged that when she began negotiations to appear on the show, “I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. I had never seen the show. They offered me a lot of money, and it was very tempting. But then I realized there’s no way I could make that long of a commitment because of the ongoing litigation with Trump and Cohen and all that stuff.” In a statement, Celebrity Big Brother producers confirmed that the dispute over Daniels’ appearance did not involve the amount of her fee, but they did not address her allegation that they threatened to “deport” her. "Producers discussed a variety of options with her but weren't able to agree [on] any acceptable conditions for her entering the house,” the producers said, according to the BBC. Hosts of the Loose Women show noted that Daniels accepted no fee for her interview, instead asking the show to make a donation to the global anti-poverty charity, Oxfam.
