Stormy Watch: Daniels’ Fundraising Page Cracks $100K Mark

CYBERSPACE—New headlines on the legal tussles surrounding Stormy Daniels and the “hush money” settlement that Donald Trump did or didn’t know about are popping up even faster than reports on the latest departure from the White House. And moving up just as quickly is the big, bold number indicating the total funds raised on Daniels’ case on CrowdJustice.com, a website “founded to increase access to the legal system.” Earlier today the Washington Post jumped all over the story and word soon spread. Daniels states on the crowdfunding page, “I am attempting to speak honestly and openly to the American people about my relationship with now President Donald Trump, as well as the intimidation and tactics that he, together with his attorney Michael Cohen, have used to silence me.” In her pitch she elaborates on the details, stating, “I need funds to pay for: attorneys' fees; out-of-pocket costs associated with the lawsuit, arbitration, and my right to speak openly; security expenses; and damages that may be awarded against me if I speak out and ultimately lose to Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen.” Within hours, the fundraising effort hit the $100,000 mark. At this posting the amount is already over $105,000 (refreshing page ... make that $107,102). It's edging up quickly to beat the $130,000 that attorney Michael Cohen paid her 12 days before the election in exchange for her silence about the alleged sexual relationship with Trump more than a decade ago. In terms of how the case compares to the listed “success stories” on the site, Daniels has already raised more cash than two-thirds of them—and it’s still Day One.
