Florida Lawmaker Declares Stormy Daniels 'Public Health Hazard'

CYBERSPACE—A Florida lawmaker opposed to a bill in that state’s legislature that would officially classify porn as a “public health crisis” attempted to derail the proposed law on Wednesday, but came up short—even though research by the Florida House of Representatives staff noted that “pornography addiction” is not recognized as a mental disorder by the American Psychiatric Association. Democratic State Representative Jared Moskowitz says that the bill, House Resolution 157, is a “waste of taxpayer money.” That’s why, this week, he attempted to add nine amendments to the bill naming other “public health hazards” in Florida. One of those health hazards, according to Moskowitz’s admittedly tongue-in-cheek amendments, is AVN Hall of Fame star Stormy Daniels. Why Daniels would be considered a threat to public health, Moskowitz did not say. Not does he likely believe that Daniels herself actually represents a “public health crisis.” "I'm clearly doing this to undermine the resolution," Moskowitz announced to the state’s House Commerce Committee, which held a hearing on the anti-porn bill Wednesday. "I struggle with the fact that this is what we're wasting taxpayer money on." Among the other public health hazards included in Moskowitz’s amendments were the flu, Nazis, cancer and gun fatalities. But the bill’s main sponsor, Representative Ross Spano, slammed Moskowitz’s effort to stop the resolution as absurd and a “mockery of the legislative process.” Spano said that he has been subject to attacks over his backing of the bill to make Florida the fifth state to officially label porn a threat to public health. Kansas, Utah, South Dakota and Virginia have already adopted similar “public health” anti-porn resolutions. "It's not been easy. But it's something that I've learned that you believe in, and you believe is important even though it's difficult, you still push forward, so that's what we're doing with this,” Spano told the Orlando Weekly newspaper. At Wednesday’s Commerce Committee hearing, the anti-porn resolution easily moved forward by a vote of 25-1, and Moskowitz’s amendments were not allowed to be discussed, with committee Chair Jim Boyd cutting off debate, ruling that they were irrelevant to the resolution declaring porn a public health crisis. Stormy Dainiels, of course, has achieved nationwide notoriety over the past month over stories that in 2006 and 2007, she conducted an extramarital affair with Donald Trump. And if Daniels is indeed a public health hazard, she will once again bring the supposed danger to Trump’s doorstep in April. She brings her ongoing “Make America Horny Again” live appearance tour to the Ultra’s Gentlemen’s Club in West Palm Beach, just a few block’s from Trump International Golf Club, and a mere 15-minute drive from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, which Trump has described as his personal “winter White House.”
