’Tis the Season to Search for Christmas Porn

CYBERSPACE—The holiday season upon us, but not only is Christmas the season for giving, this is also the most wonderful time of the year for porn — specifically, Christmas-related porn, as statistics from the past three years of holiday season searches on the mega-site Pornhub indicate. Pornhub, which makes a regular practice of compiling and releasing statistics on the trends and tastes of the porn-viewing public, has released statistics on the behavior of the site’s visitors during the holidays for the past few years. And even though Christmas and Christmas Eve are generally considered time for families to gather and spend time together, presumably freeing themselves from the internet, the site found that porn viewing actually increases on those dates—at least late at night. Pornhub traffic at 2 a.m. on Christmas morning jumps by 48 percent over an average day, the site found. But that trend reverses once it comes time to unwrap the presents. During the daylight hours of December 25, the porn mega-site—where fans viewed nearly 92 billion videos in 2016 alone—traffic plummets by 45 percent compare to an average day. The site’s statistics also reveal that men are 34 percent more likely to search the porn site for Christmas-related terms than women—and women have distinctly different tastes in Christmas porn.  Measuring the increase in search frequency for terms during Christmas as opposed to an average day, Pornhub found that while the favorite searches for men last year were “Christmas POV” with an increase of 313 percent, “Christmas blowjob” (185 percent) and “Christmas milf,” women showed the biggest jump in searches for “old Santa Claus,” searching for porn involving an elderly man in a red suit 220 percent more than average. Rounding out the top three for women, according to the Pornhub stats, were straightforward searches for “Santa Claus” (121 percent) and “Christmas sex” (87 percent). Over the past two years, Pornhub users tastes appear to have become somewhat more vanilla. In 2014, the top three Christmas search terms were “naughty Santa’s helper,” “fucking dad’s girlfriend” and “Christmas fuck.” But by last year, those top three Pornhub holiday search terms were simply, “Santa,” “Christmas present” and “Xmas.” More clearly porn-specific terms turned up further down the rankings, with “Christmas orgy” placing fifth, “Christmas threesome” seventh and “Christmas creampie” 16th.
