'Nightline' Covers Camming Biz

CYBERSPACE—The May 24 episode of ABC's Nightline took a look at the booming industry of adult webcamming in a segment titled "Cam Couples." The nearly 8-minute segment focused on two representatives from divergent ends of the cam performer spectrum: amateur couple Peppermint and Dusty, who cam on Chaturbate in their spare time in between their regular 9-to-5 jobs, and top adult star Ariana Marie, who has turned her entire Las Vegas home into a full-time cam house broadcasting on MyFreeCams when she isn't shooting for pro porn studios, sometimes joined by her husband, Jack Spade. "We're going to have sex anyway; no matter what, we're going to do it," Dusty tells Nightline reporter Kendis Gibson during the segment. Later, Peppermint adds, "We're just normal people that happen to be very lucky to have an incredibly loving relationship that includes a lot of passion."   For Marie's part, she says that she came back to camming, where she got her start in the business, because, "Working in adult film, you don't know if you're going to get a call from a company saying, 'Hey, we want you for this film.' I think with webcamming you definitely have more of an advantage to make more money." The piece also includes commentary from University of Nevada, Las Vegas professor Dr. Lynn Comella, and mentions camming sites Cam4 and Live Jasmin, the latter of which it reports is "more popular than The New York Times" among U.S. websites.
