India's Rail Riders Using Public WiFi Primarily for Porn

PATNA, India — Free public WiFi service recently offered in 23 of India’s railway stations is being used primarily to access porn sites. According to a report in The Economic Times, the Patna railway station is a hotbed of commuters getting their porn freak on along with accessing YouTube, Wikipedia and Bollywood films. The Jaipur Bengaluru and New Delhi railway stations are also packed with heavy Internet searchers.  The free WiFi access is being provided by Google, in association with Internet provider RailTel. "More than any other railway station in the country, where free WiFi service was launched, the Patna railway station is on the top in the country for using Internet search, particularly search for porn sites," a RailTel offical said. Other stations getting free access are Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Ranchi in Jharkhand. By the end of 2016, more than 100 railroad stations will have access, and in three years it is projected that India will have more than 400 hot spots making it the largest public WiFi system in the world. "More than anything, porn sites have been watched and downloaded by the people at Patna railway station," the official said. India's "joy riders" should take advantage of the service soon if local officals are anything like New York City's "progressive" Mayor Bill de Blasio who shuttered the Big Apple's "LinkNYC" WiFi kiosks in September over concerns that porn hounds were loitering at the devices for hours.
