Starbucks Gives in to Enough Is Enough's Wi-Fi Filtering

CYBERSPACE—Porn fans, cross Starbucks off your list of preferred hangouts. The coffee-slinging behemoth has caved into puritanical pressure from Enough Is Enough, an organization dedicated to “making the internet safe for children and families.” Under yesterday’s headline on AVN.com, “No More Porn With Your Fries,” we offered readers solace that although McDonald's had decided to restrict customers from using free wi-fi in their restaurants to access pornography, the unrestricted net would still be available at Starbucks. But Enough is Enough, which had lobbied Mickey D for more than two years, can now add Starbucks to their win column. The group was aided in its campaign by another censorship cheerleader, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation. "This is a huge victory," Donna Rice Hughes, president of Enough is Enough, told CNN. "We're proud of Starbucks and McDonald's for stepping up to the plate. Internet pornography is a public health crisis. Parents need to know which family restaurants are safe from online threats."
