The Hosts: Angel, Albrite and Quigley Make Magical Trio

LAS VEGAS—Among the dreams many in the adult industry harbor but few ever achieve is to host the AVN Awards Show. Joanna Angel, for one, held onto that dream for years on end, and Saturday night she saw it come true at last. "It was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life," Angel expressed. "In all honesty, I'm sad that it's over." Anikka Albrite, 2015's AVN Female Performer of the Year, registered a similar sentiment: "I have to say that hosting the awards was one of the coolest experiences I've ever had. The night really went by way too fast. We had a lot of fun, and it was seriously one of the coolest things I have ever done." The two adult superstars were joined on stage by comedian Kate Quigley, who told AVN she was a bit taken aback by the grandeur of the affair. "You would think you were at the Oscars," Quigley marveled. "I was a little surprised by how seriously all the performers took it, like everybody looked so beautiful and formal; the only difference is they all have a sense of humor about it. I just didn't realize what a huge event it was, so it really was an amazing experience." Quigley had nothing but praise for her two co-hosts. "Joanna is actually a really brilliant comedic writer, and she helped me out a lot with writing some of the jokes, because I wanted to make sure they would be funny to people in the business," she noted. "So she was a big help to me. And Anikka is just the sweetest, most lovable person ever. So I really loved working with both of them." Another thing upon which both Albrite and Angel agreed was the highlight of the evening for them: the hilarious song-and-dance number they performed toward the top of the show. Titled "That's What Porn Is All About," the ditty recounted some of the funniest titles of the year and, in a rap interlude penned entirely by Angel, included shout-outs to a number of the top performers lining the front rows of the auditiorium, among them Xander Corvus, Alexis Texas, Dani Daniels, Katrina Jade, Mick Blue, Megan Rain, Romi Rain and Adriana Chechik. "I had a little too much fun doing that," Angel confessed. "I might actually go off and produce a white girl Jewish rap album." She further admitted, "I was really worried I was going to make a big fool of myself, and when the audience seemed receptive, it was truly one of the best feelings I've ever had in my life. AVN is an emotional night for a lot of performers—some people win, some people lose, some people aren't even nominated. I wanted to make the show a good time for all performers and fans who were present." Added Albrite, "I just want to say thank you very much to everybody at AVN for putting their faith in me to put on a show and giving me the opportunity to put myself out there. I had a blast. I want to do it again." Pictured l to r: Anikka Albrite, Kate Quigley, Joanna Angel (photo by Nate "Igor" Smith)
