Sources Speculate Charlie Sheen Will Reveal HIV Status on 'Today' Show

NEW YORK—Actor Charlie Sheen, who has long had various ties to the adult industry, will appear in an exclusive sit-down interview with Today’s Matt Lauer on Tuesday. Though executives with Today have not said what the interview is about, many sources are speculating Sheen will reveal his HIV status, which has been the subject of several tabloid stories in recent days. In an announcement on its website, Today reps said Sheen will appear live on Studio 1A on Tuesday, and the interview will be available on Today.com after it airs. Media outlets ranging from celebrity gossip site TMZ to tabloid National Enquirer to People magazine claims unidentified sources say the 50-year-old actor will reveal he is HIV positive. The National Enquirer posted a story last month hinting that a major Hollywood actor was HIV positive and that a multimillion-dollar cover-up was in play to keep the actor’s ID and HIV status secret. Now, the tabloid is announcing in its November 18 edition the results of its “dogged 18-month investigation that has uncovered how television's one-time highest paid star potentially spread the devastating virus to dozens of unsuspecting women.” Sheen—son of Martin Sheen and brother of Emilio Estevez—has never been quiet about his love of porn and porn stars. He was previously linked with several adult actresses, including Ginger Lynn, Capri Anderson, Bree Olson and Kacey Jordan. He was also engaged to former performer Brett Rossi, but that relationship ended last year. Image from Wikipedia Commons: Charlie Sheen at the 2012 FX Ad Sales Upfront; photo by Joella Marano
