Mr. Marcus Opens Up In ‘Ebony’ Interview

LOS ANGELES—In addition to attending Exxotica earlier this month in Chicago, Mr. Marcus also talked with sex educator Glamazon Tyomi about everything from his entry into adult, to his doctored test results to his plans for the future. The article appeared on Ebony.com. Mr. Marcus, who told the magazine he got his start in adult after starting a relationship with Heather Hunter when the pair met at the AVN Awards in 1994, was accused of doctoring a Talent Testing result in 2012. In this interview, he explained that he found out through his personal physician he had contracted syphilis. Though he started a treatment of penicillin, he still had a Talent Testing test done because he had several jobs scheduled. That test, however came back as a “false positive” he said, which meant his test was flagged. “I had jobs lined up, and when I found out the test came back reactive, I panicked,” he told Ebony.com. “I went online, I looked things up, I did everything I was supposed to do. Why is everything coming back reactive? The clinician agreed that I was fine, but there wasn’t anything he could do besides give me another test without the syphilis results on there. So I made the mistake of taking the test and making a copy of it where the syphilis part of the test wasn’t revealed.”  That move not only led to the end of his performing career for all intents and purposes, but also jail time and significant fines. As AVN has previously reported on the issue, he was ordered to pay $129,360 to Lilith LaVey, the performer who sued him for exposing her to the syphilis virus on set. LaVey did not contract the STD, but claimed her “reputation in the adult film world” was “diminished as a result.” Mr. Marcus also pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge that he exposed at least two others (both actresses on set) to a communicable disease and was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 15 days of community service and three years probation. Now, Mr. Marcus said in the Ebony.com interview, he plans to explore various options, including “production, product branding and even talent management”. For more information, visit Ebony.com.
