The CSPH Launches ‘$5 for Five’ Crowdfunding Campaign

PAWTUCKET, RI—The Center for Sexual Pleasure and Health (The CSPH) celebrates its fifth year as a sex-positive educational organization with a “$5 for Five” crowdfunding campaign. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, The CSPH is tax-exempt; any donations made to The CSPH are tax-deductible. Megan Andelloux, founder and director of The CSPH, is a board-certified sexologist and AASECT-certified sexuality educator, widely known for her innovative workshops and her sex positive approach to sexuality education, Andelloux is one of the nation’s most sought-after sexuality educators, invited back to 94 percent of all colleges and universities where she has presented. “To commemorate The CSPH’s five-year milestone, we have launched its first-ever crowdfunding campaign, asking folks to make a $5 gift (or more), over the course of five days, with the goal of raising $5,000,” said Andelloux. “We hope that by asking a large number of people for a very small contribution, we can work to make The CSPH a continuing sustainable force that fights sexual stigma and shame.” The CSPH’s “$5 for Five” campaign began May 5 and will run through May 10. Founded in February 2010, The CSPH is an educational organization that works to reduce sexual shame, challenge misinformation and advance the field of sexuality. The CSPH provides sex-positive sexuality education and cultural dialogue through a wide variety of programming, including workshops, performances, and sex trivia nights for community members; practical skill-building events and classes for emerging and experienced professionals; and presentations for hospitals, medical organizations and at national conferences. The Center also maintains one of the largest sexual resource and media libraries in the northeast, available for public perusal. Additionally, The CSPH offers wide-reaching web resources, such as a video series and weekly features such as a news digest and articles highlighting upcoming conferences and relevant sexual studies to keep visitors educated, entertained and aware. “Since 2010, our interdisciplinary team approach has ensured that our work addresses the physical, emotional, and mental needs that arise within the complex intersections of health and pleasure,” explained Andelloux. “We work to educate people and spark dialogue, especially around topics that may be very difficult, in service of creating a more sexually literate society and promoting sexual health and wellness. The CSPH is uniquely qualified to lead this conversation as an organization founded and governed by certified sexuality educators, licensed social workers, and practicing physicians.” The CSPH’s mission is of reducing sexual shame, by thwarting efforts aimed at hindering the dissemination of information about sexuality to their communities. It achieves these goals by working collaboratively with medical and behavioral health professionals to promote medically accurate and affirming information.
