Shy Love Sues Mark Schechter, Others, Claiming Defamation

LOS ANGELES—According to documents filed Monday in Superior Court in Los Angeles, talent agent Shy Love has sued the person to whom she and her husband sold ATMLA, their previous talent agency, naming Mark Schechter as well as director Barrett Blade and "Does 1 through 20," claiming that one or more of the defendants had stated, in January of 2013, that when ATMLA was sold to Schechter, "Plaintiff [Love] was bankrupt, that she had been unlawfully altering the business's accounting books, and that Plaintiff owned [sic] numerous of her employees and independent contractors large sums of money." Later alleged statements by the defendants were that Love was "stealing money" from her then-clients, and that various adult production companies including Mile High Media and Gamma Entertainment had been asked by Schechter and/or his associates to "blacklist" Love's current clients. Love also claims that Schechter had approached several of her clients and referenced the alleged theft and altered books as a reason to leave Love's agency and sign on with ATMLA. The complaint, which can be accessed here, charges just one count of "Slander Per Se" against all defendants, and while the complaint seeks "special damages," "damages according to proof" (likely lost income and other expenses) plus the interest thereon, as well as "such other relief as this Court may deem just and proper," no specific amount has been sued for. Love is represented by the Encino law firm of Beitchman & Zekian, P.C. As of today, the court docket notes that the complaint has been served on one or more plaintiffs, that no answer has yet been filed, and no hearing date scheduled.
