HuffPo Profiles LA Dominatrix Snow Mercy

LOS ANGELES—This afternoon, HuffPo profiled Snow Mercy, a Los Angeles-based dominatrix who teaches “fetish fitness” classes. Mercy, who has been a dominatrix for ten years, is also featured tomorrow night on Sex with Sunny Megatron, which premiered on Showtime last month. In the HuffPo piece, written by David Moye, Mercy explains the academic route that led her to embrace fetishism as a career. "The way I became a dominatrix is I started working for my Ph.D. in biochemistry,” she said. “I needed a way to make extra money so I started working in a dungeon here in Los Angeles. I just thought it would be for a few months and I've been doing it for over 10 years now." It was in 2008 that she discovered a new type of fitness routine she calls “fetish fitness.” She explained to HuffPo in an email, "To challenge myself, I started incorporating wrist weights and squats while flogging a target. From this a new workout routine was born, and I shared my enthusiasm with friends about my new workout style. "Since then," she continued, "I have trained select private clients. For example, one male client enjoys working out in a yellow ballerina outfit complete with a yellow tutu while an audience of beautiful ladies humiliates him." Tomorrow’s episode of Sex with Sunny Megatron visits Mercy during one of her classes, in which, as Moye reports, “…students compete against each other and win points based on strength, agility, endurance and, most important, obedience. “Case in point,” he continues, “during the class filmed for the Sunny Megatron show, Mercy made one male student kiss her boot as punishment for chewing gum and not referring to her as ‘Mistress.’” Sex with Sunny Megatron airs Thursdays at 11pm on Showtime.
