Air Canada Pilots Told to Keep Porn Off Flight Deck

CANADA—CBC News is reporting on a bulletin sent to Air Canada flight crews last year warning about a trend in which inappropriate material was being left on the flight decks. Specifically, the bulletin indicated that the material was of a sexual nature, and also that complaints were being received about sexual harassment by pilots. The upshot of the bulletin was to let pilots know that the airline would no longer tolerate such behavior, but it was apparently not the first time such warnings had to be delivered. According to the CBC report, in the memo, the chief pilot wrote, "I am disappointed to have to raise this issue once again, but we unfortunately have some people that have yet to understand the message." He added, "Leaving inappropriate material on the flight deck must cease immediately." The airline responded by saying that most of the material being questioned is "inappropriate business cards" left in planes that stop in Las Vegas, but the CBC also reported that an Air Canada female pilot had complained about finding explicit (and violent) porn in the flight deck and had actually taken stress leave because of it.
